Well a few weeks ago i went to a junkyard with a friend and i found a '89 SHO. I decided to get the grill and it only cost $9. I have wanted a police grill since i got my car. Since I got this one I decided I'll try making it into one. I measured everything out to be the same on both sides. I taped up the parts to help while cutting. I'm going to use a cutting wheel with my dremel. Any suggestions before, while, or after cutting?

Your on the right path brother. Been down that road before. You will be happy with the results, if you take your time. Heck, from 20 feet away, you won't be able to tell the difference between your 9 dollar grill and a $150 police.

I knew i should have picked up that police grill at the JY..... it had alittle damage to it...but nothing alittle filler couldnt do....

thats gonna look great!! allthough the only thing that kinda throws me is that its not going to have the ressesed (sp??) look that the police grill has... But as mentioned, you cant tell unless your really close to the car...

I was just going to use the cutting wheel. Would it be better to drill the corners first?

I think it would be...otherwise, you will probably end up with "notches" in the corners.

I would do a little different, I'd cut the inner, matching the oval, would be different and get more air.

I started to cut the slots out. 1 down, 7 more to go. Then the sanding. And while cutting you definently need to wear at least some glasses or goggles. Bits of plastic were flying everywhere.

drilling the opposite corners isn't imperative it's not like it's metal or anything. But you should wear goggles because those dremel cut off wheels fly apart.

I've cut almost 4 out. I will take some pictures tonight and put them up soon. I'm probably going to finish cutting the other side tomorrow. Then I will sand it and smooth it and and go from there. I got school tomorrow otherwise I would probably get it done, but i don't have school friday.

P.S. Goggles are necessity. But a paintball mask works so much better, or any full face mask for that matter.

Well I finished cutting out the slots. All that is left now is to smooth the edges then possibly put it on and see how it looks. Heres some pictures with all the slots out.

I'm most likely going to do the smoothing tomorrow. I'll probably have a picture with it on tomorrow. I can't wait. :corn:

Yeah the pictures are kind of blurry because it was cold in the garage and i couldn't keep the camera steady. Cutting it out isn't too difficult. I'm going to try and finish it up today. Maybe I'll bring the dremel along to the convention  , thats if I go, which i want to.
