I recently installed a MTX magnaflow y-pipe from summitracing.com. As others have said, the craftsmanship is pretty decent, especially for the price. My only gripe is that the outlet pipe diameter is about 1/8" too small in diameter to provide a good fit inside the donut gasket seal. By comparison, the stock y-pipe has a nice tight fit between the outlet pipe and the gasket. Fortunately, the flat back surface of the gasket seems to seal fine agasint the ****** on the new y-pipe, and I don't have any leaks (yet).

Just curious if anyone else had this same experience with their magnaflow pipes.

I've had a different problem. The outlet was about 1/8th to big. I ended up filing down the inside of the donut gasket so it would kind of fit, then just bolted it down and hoped for the best, which ended up cracking the donut gasket and destroying it.

Same problem here...I plan to go to a muffler/exhaust shop and have them take care of it. For some reason my car runs like pure **** when there is the smallest exhaust leak. I've been fighting it for a while now and have cracked dounts so I'll go pay the $20-$30 or so to have a shop take care of it.

Both SS Y-pipes that I have had fit perfectly with the graphite gasket and stock cat back. The reason I went with the flex pipe was because I was having problems with the 2.5" cat-back mating perfectly with the y-pipe.

Are the people who are having problems running reinforced motor mounts?

I have reinforced mounts but I don't see how this would affect the seal??? Also, I run a Dynomax catback that isn't in the best shape so in my case a new piece from a muffler shop is my best option.

Thread resurrection - I am curious, for those that had issues with donut gasket fitment on the Magnaflow 23355 Y-pipe, were you using the Ford gasket or the Felro (60641) one? I got my Magnaflow Y-pipe last night and the OD of the outlet is 2 1/4 inch (I had heard they ran a little larger than this) thanks for any info - zak

Still wondering about the Felpro vs Ford seal for this, and also whether the Felpro attachment hardware kit for the outlet ****** is stainless like the Ford bits.
