Hey all.
I'm now looking to buy a high flow Y pipe for my '92 mtx.

I have done a lot of research and been all through this thread but cant figure out which is more efficient.
I know that the SHO source Y is equal length and 2.25" diameter and that that the MagnaFlow is only 2" and maybe has lesser quality steel.... but the real question is, do either make anymore power than the other? Any dyno or comparisons?
Thanks.

I can only comment on the ShoSource Y-pipe and it is a pleasure to own. It is delivered in 3 pieces and uses slide joints to fit the pipes together. Because of that, installation is easy and can be done on your driveway as you don't need 2 people or a bunch of jackstands to put a large, prefabricated, one piece system up in place.
The slide fit pipes are accurate and don't need muffler clamps to join them together (if you don't want to), and I checked them out in the cold weather, and there were absolutely no leaks (that you can easily see in the cold air).

It is a premium system, made of stainless steel, and I believe it makes the most power. It runs very close to your drain plug, and at first, seems to be in the way, but it is not.

However, it is more expensive.

The larger diameter in theory is more impressive, but I would not bet my life that it makes a difference unless you upgrade your cat-back system. I have a Borla system behind mine which is worth looking into, as they are still available used, from time to time.

I came across a MagnaFlow piece for very cheap, brand new.
I figured what the he'll, I'll try it.

I must say that you are right. Installation has been a huge PITA lol
I'm now working on trying to replace the studs on the manifold (FUN) I'll try to install again after.
