The factory unit is a proven win, and 90% of people will be more than happy with it, especially when coupled to something like the Tweecer to really dial it in.

That said, I REALLY like my Lincoln 80mm MAF :thumb:

Coupled with TwEECer tuning, it really woke the engine up. No noticeable changes at low revs, but at high revs the engine just sings.

I will agree with that.. given you have a good tuner, dyno time, and tweecer or other device. That ends up costing alot more than swapping in an ebay MAF. I went down this road with several MAF's only to go back to stock, which had the best plug and play performance. I didn't have the time and $ at the time after I spent money on the units (Lincoln 80 and Pro-M 77) to buy a tuner and pay for dyno time and an experienced person to dial it in. I had other maintenance issues that needed attention.

Get some giggle gas or a blower if you really want to notice a difference. Otherwise start beefing up the weaker parts of the car. Brakes and suspension. How much difference do strut tower braces and subframe connectors make?? A whole lot for the money! You'll really be very pleasantly surprised.

The stock MAF "IS" a restriction. Its size will cost you peak hp. If you just fart around town all day around 3,000rpm then the stocker is the MAF for you. If you are like the rest of use that take daily trips to 7,300rpm then the stocker "IS" not the MAF for you. It really doesn't matter about the fact it can flow 600CFM, or that the SHO engine only pulls half that CFM because of less then 100% full volumetric effciency. As engine speed increases vacuum will increase and the stocker will cause your plenum tanks to suffer.

Its simple really...

55mm MAF @ 3,000 rpm
80mm MAF @ 3,000 rpm

Same flow, however one of them is under less vacuum.

There is a difference.

You will max out the stock MAF way before 500whp. ****, you'll max out the Lincoln 80 MAF before 500whp.

My '89 ran on a 80mm Ford MAF. Not sure if it's a Lincoln unit or not. The only thing you can read on it is "Japan". Hmm.. Have a SHO Shop receipt that states "Ford 80mm MAF" from '97. Anyways, The car had 2 LPMs. One was tuned for the car w/o the MAF. The other, with it. Top end difference is amazing, esp in 3rd & 4th.

I was lucky enough to score a 75mm Pro-M a couple of years ago, and I love it. A few of us took a road trip from Portland to Coos Bay, OR for a dyno day and a weekend at the beach. One of the cars was pretty much bone stock, and all I had at the time was a y-pipe and my 75. We put the stocker on the dyno first and did one pull. Then we put my 75 on his car and ran it again. There was a 6hp gain, and he said he could feel the difference in the throttle response. Now, I know dyno pulls can vary, so I am not saying that this is conclusive, but it was just nice to see some different numbers and get somebody else's opinion. He's been looking for the Pro-M ever since. FWIW.

Try the stocker and reset the adaptive programming in the computer. Feels like an extra 5-10 hp on the butt dyno. When I changed back to the stock unit from the Pro-M I had on for months it felt like I gained a whole lot. Just recaptured what I lost and got rid of the mileage extending programming that was is there.

Back in Michigan ... again.
How about I just bring my sho down and stomp you in the ground? Is that as good as dyno results?

I sincerely hope you're talking about a race and not a physical confrontation. Joking or not, it's totally unacceptable and won't be tolerated.

And yeah, going to JUST a bigger MAF alone is pretty much a waste of money. Combine it with extrude honed intake, big-bore butterflies and either a twEECer or LPM to get any appreciable gains, but even then you're talking a few horsepower. The other folks are right... the money is better spent elsewhere.

I surely hope you recognize that NotSoSlowSHO is instigating it. I will not tolerate it any more. You wont have any problems from me otherwise. There is a point were you draw the line.

I dont see any line.

All I see is you making statements that you consider facts, when you dont have any proof to back it up.

Dont like it? Get some data to support your claims. Then we can talk.

I like this luigi sho guy, he made a good point about worrying about other stuff

money is better spent on ASFB's or neon strut tower bars off ebay and some good performance pads
