Alright guys I just sold my 07 GT C/S Convertible Mustang with Roush Supercharger for something a little more family friendly. Getting the kids in and out of the back was becoming a chore... And it had close to 140K miles so I figured I'd sell it while it still looked and ran like a champ.
So I picked up a 2012 SHO (non Performance Pack) with about 60K miles online from a reputable dealer and I'm expecting delivery tomorrow. Assuming everything checks out as advertised, I've got about $1,000-1,500 to spend TOTAL on upgrades. Here's what I'm thinking:
3 Bar Map
Thermostat
CAI
Oil separator/catch can
Spark Plugs
93 octane performance tune/tuner
I have no interest in a meth kit and would rather not blow the budget on an exhaust. My last car screamed "look at me" so I'm a little intrigued with having a sleeper.
If I've done my math right I can go all Livernoise with a JLT oil separator and install it all in the garage for about $1225 + tax. I'll probably drop a couple hundred on a 8" Kicker hideaway sub for the trunk depending on how the stock Sony system sounds.
I'm a little intrigued by the ITSX as I'm a phone ***** (my other hobby) and the thought of loading tunes, data logging, etc from my phone seems better than using a handheld. Anyone have one? Pros or cons?
I see unleashed offers a pricey dual valve catch can. Is it worth it or should I just go with the JLT?
From what I'm reading, you guys aren't a fan of a CAI for this car? Why is that so? The whole point of gaining power is to reduce engine temperature and increase air flow. How could it not gain power?
Thoughts on down pipes? Seems like minimal gains for the money and I run the risk of drone. I had cated X pipes on the Mustang and constantly fought P0320 and P0430 codes.
Livernoise gives an expected HP/Torque gain but I don't see such claims for Unleashed. Anyone running a similar setup that can provide any WHP/WTQ numbers?
Sorry for the lengthy post. I've spent about as much time parts shopping as I did shopping for the car. Feel free to provide your feedback to any or all questions. There are a lot, lol.
