Basic Questions
Matt, I'm sort of starting from square one on this subject, but I need a little feedback on both choosing a MAF to use, and identifying which power module I have.
The car is a '92. I have both a 73mm C&L MAF and an 80mm MAF Lincoln MAF.
About the 73mm C&L; I had one installed, took it off because of erratic part-throttle issues, that didn't change when I removed the C&L and put the OEM MAF back on, but when I removed the Accel coil pack, and put the OEM coil pack back on the erratic part throttle issues (and even a hesitation/skip when accelerating) went away.
So the jury is still out for me on the C&L MAF.
But I would like to find out if I have an LPM that SHO Source can tune. When I got the 80mm MAF it came with an aftermarket LPM, that is supposed to plug into the existing computer that above the glove box.
This module can be switched between three "tunes," and it allows the 80mm MAF to be used, but I don't know if that same 'module' would allow the two mods I want: lowering the coolant temp at which the fan comes on, and raising the rpms at which the secondaries kick in to 4,500.
If the computer in my car now can be programmed by SHOSource for fan kick-in temp, raising the secondary cut-in rpms, and using the 80mm MAF, then I'll forego the module I got and use what I have, but what do I look for to determine that? Do you need a pic or is there a quick way to determine which computer is in the car now (it's the OEM one that was installed when new).
Don't know much yet about all this LPM stuff, but I'd like to make these mods.
