Yesterday i noticed that i have a lack of low end power. Anything below 2500 rpm is weak. I pulled into the garage to check the codes and noticed that oil smoke was coming out from the hood. It is burning off of the front cat. Does that sound like the front main seal? Are these two occurances coincidince? This oil leak is new and so is the power loss. The computor gave no codes...any ideas

These two things have nothing to do with eachother. Check your secondaries and make sure they are opening and closing at the right point. When you start the car, the secondaries should close and when you reach 3850 rpms, then they should open.

I'm having the exact same problem on my '92. Low end power loss and smoke from the front cat. I was also thinking front main seal. I going to try to get some more opinions from the CSHOC guys next week.

If it is the front main seal, where is a good place to get it from? Anybody have instructions for replacement?

You can get the front main seal at a ford dealership. It is only 10 bucks. You can also go to most auto stores and buy them for around 8 bucks. So whatever store is closer to you. I have the writeup on the procedure if anyone would like it. Just give me an email and i'll hook you up.

To Cohiba: Turns out that my front main seal is just fine and dry. I probably should have looked closer at the leak before i tore apart the front side of the engine...live and learn...the leak is from my oil pan gasket. Im pretty sure that the power loss is due to a faulty MAF.....good exuse for me to get a ProFlow 75mm!!!!

I hope mine turns out to be the OPG also. I took out my LPM for awhile and the problem with power loss went away... I've put it back it and don't seem to be having a problem. (Fingers crossed) Maybe the EEC just needed to be reset.

I noticed some smoke last night as I was putting the cover on the car. The lights were still on thats how I saw the smoke. It was coming out from the passenger side of the car. I am going to get a better look this weekend for the leak. Is there a spot that I should be checking out first or just look for the oil mark if there is on? If it is a main seal, is there a way to check it without ripping off half the engine? (never done it before)

Thanks
Kevin

Just narrow it down to eliminate the OPG. if it isnt that, then it is most likley the crank seal.
