It has been kinda cold here lately and that is when I started noticing this problem. When I go to start my car up for the first time of the day I get a "Low Coolant" Light. However if I am running errands and shut the car off and come to it minutes later and run it, the light is gone. I have checked my radiator, its topped off. Is it possible the sensor is bad? Is this a common problem? Is there anywhere I should check for leaks? Thanks

Well if the overflow bottle is full then the sensor is starting to go bad. They can get caked with gunk on them making it hard for them to read the water level. A wire brush would be good to clean it. If this deosnt fix it then the sensor iteslf is bad and you need a new one. You can get one from a junkyard. I do not know if you can get a new one or not.

Sounds like you maybe just a little low or leaking coolant so when the coolant expands when the car warms up it will cover the sensor. And when its real cool its all sucked into the rad. Check your coolant first thing in the morning too see what level its at. If its still full you have a sensor issue if empty maybe a low level or a bad rad cap.

I had the same problem earlier this year. It turned out to be the sensor. Cheap fix.
