what is this? I have heard it the past two days, and it has been very cold here in Detroit. When I start the car, I hear a loud squeke,it sounds as if it is a wheel turning. It is a wierd sound, just wanna know if it is a symptom of a problem or something.

Accessory belt is slipping. You might need new belts. You can remedy the situation by getting some belt dressing and spraying that on the belts.

Although it's probably not your problem I'll mention that oil pumps can squeak on startup. But forget about that, it's your accessory belt(s) slipping.

Rio,

Belt squeel can also be caused by a bearing that is going bad. The bearing sticks and the belt slips on the sticking pulley, until the grease in the pulley bearing is distributed and warmed up.

Check your alternator bearing, idler pulley bearing(s), A/C clutch pulley bearing, and the water pump bearing. The power steering pulley bearing is the least likely candidate.

If your belts are properly tensioned they should be quite, unless they are worn and glazed. rangerj
