:bonk: Ok here it goes. So on take off I hear a banging noise and on hard shifts sometimes the same noise. I put it on the lift and checked the balljoints, strut rods to subframe, subframe mounts, the rack bolts. I looked at the motor mounts and seemed to be OK. Any one got any insight? I'm chassing my tail over here.

I'd double check the subframe mounts and the motor mounts.

Ditto that.

I don't know if the car is MTX or ATX, but if it's an MTX you might also want to double check that you don't have any holes that don't belong there. Also check the fluid level while your down there.

as masho95 stated, check the motor mounts.
Open the hood, start the engine, set the E-brake, torque the motor up some in 1st gear, watch the motors' movement. If the right front corner of the engine jumps up a coupla inches, you have a busted front motor mount. Try same with reverse also.
If the whole front of the engine appears to be coming up uniformly across, you may have a subframe bushing issue.

So I also checked the mounts and they move a little a 1" or so side to side. But this seems something other than motor mounts. And I have really no shiny spots on the intake or the hood liner. Also fluid was just changed 1000 mi back with the clutch@lightweight flywheel.

Could be the problem with the mounting point for the strut rod on the subframe breaking off...bushings will appear fine but the mount breaks looks from the subframe, i think you have to take the nut off and pull the bushing off to really tell...but that wouldnt cause hard shifting....or do you mean you hear the noise when you shift hard? :bonk:

Yeah I have stock subframe mounts. Didn't get a chance to take strut rod apart yet, To much work in the garage to get in on the lift today. :dribble:

Sounds like your subframe bushings are shot. I would recommend aluminum subframe bushings as replacements. A few people may still have them for sale here on the forum, such as bryan C. King and/or netviper.
