i have a 95 mtx with 85k. Iv had it for two and a half years. for the past year and a half its seems to have lost its balls. It started with when i went to start the car it wouldnt start on the first try. I'd turn the key back and turn it over again and it would fire up. Now it burn really rich and doesnt have nearly the power that it use to. Now i have the sho shop intake and the catless Y pipes. I no that you lose power without cats but you should be able to turn a corner and smoke the tires. Please help me i need the power of my sho back         I should also mention that it burned really rich before i put the catless Y pipes on it

Sounds like multiple problems, but I would change both oxygen sensors and atleast the spark plugs if they haven't been touched.

I would start by pulling codes if you dont know how to do this then go to www.shotimes.com

From the codes that you get if any report back and it will be easyer for us to help you out.

I would also try and put some fuel injector cleaner in your gas you might have some bad fuel injectors. If you need any other help just ask and we will ge back to you.

Technically yes but when the 02 picked it up lean it would dump fuel in to try to equal it out, but your right.

My car is having similair problems. I idles rough @ 500 and exhaust stinks of fuel. When you rev it, it stops at 2500. Driving seems like I am driving a Geo Metro. Code came up was Primary circuit coil 3. Changed the coil and it did not fix the problem. also have a new maf on it. so were thinking it may be the DIS??

Oh and whats weird is that i havnt drove it for 1 week and i started it up just to see what happens and it ran perfect with no hint of trouble. Than like if I drive for th week, it will start bogging down and idling rough and all the issies come back. so I park it for like 3 or 4 days than do it all over again...lol

Have you checked for oil down your plug wells? Im betting you have a plug wire and plug problem. If not that it could certainly be your dis sensor. My dis sensor failed on me over this past summer, most likely due to age and heat, and when it went the car had absolutly no power, and the engine and exhausted sounded like a misfire.

Oh ok I will check that out today. Also, we hooked up this timing light looking thing and it only blinked on 4 of 6 cylinders. Could that still be plugs/wires even though there is no voltage spark or whatever the **** you call it coming out of the coil?

I replaced the plugs and still have the problem. I store the car over the winter so i'm goin to try everything that you guys think may be the problem. I've also replaced both o2 sensers, this kid i know has a ford computer so the next time i talk to him i will have him throw it on and i will let you know what the out come is. My car idle's at about 800 rpm's is that normal? and last but not least what is a DIS? i'm sure i know what it is, but never heard of it as a DIS. I want to thank everyone for takin the time to help me, i refuse to take my car machanic unless i have to. thanks again!!!

I'm not sure but i think it stands for Distributerless Ignition System and its located on the side intake tube next to the battery and on top off the timing covers.

If you are running on 4 out of 6 cylinders then the problem is more they likly the DIS module i had the same problem last summer. It is not cheap so if you could find someone that has a good one near you and try it out first.
