I need to get a copy of the rules for different classes as I refuse to install a roll cage and I may be too fast to run without one. Ah well...

I'll help you as much as needed.

Loring uses the ECTA (Maxton) rule book. The "street car" rule limits non-caged cars to 135 mph, but there is a 5 mph cushion. So, 139.9 mph is o.k. but with a warning.

Now I am going to say this and I am in no way encourging anyone to break rules. Your speed at Loring is determined at the 1.5 mile mark. A car that is traveling at 150 mph at the 1 mile and slows to 135 mph at the finish, is offically traveling at 135 mph.

Even if I have to do some slowing down, it still sounds like a great time and a fun trip to the northern tip of Maine. It's so pretty up there. You going again this year, Ransom?

Is the timing association rules and specs available on line or do i need to purchase one?

Nope, you will need to purchase a rule book. They probably won't be available until next month.

The rule book for both cars and bikes is over 100 pages. Once I get back into the swing of things here at work and they straighten up the webspaces, I'll scan a few pertinent pages to give you some idea.

Yes, but I will only bring my Hayabusa. I "really" don't have the money to bring the SHO upto the 200 mph tech status. I already have my hotel reservations.

Ransom, can you give an educated guess as to what a stock SHO would run in 1 mile?

Is nitrous allowed?

100% stock, I would guess 128-131 at sea level with no wind. But Loring is 1.5 mile, so I would bet you could get very close to topping the 139.9 mph rule for cageless cars.

I would agree, if the SHO had at least a good y-pipe. 130 MPH in the mile is probably correct, assuming a good run with really good weather conditions. However, they other 1/2 of mile you won't be accelerating too much because you run out of "time". If you trap 130 mph at the end of the mile, that only gives about 13.5 secs of acceleration time for the rest of the run.
