My brother has the 3.0 from his (formerly my) '95 SHO at a machine shop, and we're looking for rebuilding parts, or possibly a 3.2 for a swap. The guys at the machine shop have a list of parts they can find but are excessively (in their opinion) expensive and a list of parts that they just can't find, as well as a list of other needed parts.

The parts they can't find:
  • oil pump
  • pistons
The parts they can find, but are in a $1200 kit:
  • gasket set
  • rings
  • rods & mains
  • timing belts
Other parts needed:
  • T-stat housing
  • crank
The guys who are doing the machine work said they'd be happy to use the parts we provide, particularly given that the price of that kit is close to the cost of an engine rebuild.

Any of y'all have a line on any of these parts--or a 3.2?

Thanks in advance!

Yep, it is in a 94 atx right now. I need to get it parted out. You pick up, you can have it for $350, from oil pan to the intake, every part. It started right up and ran well for me, I only took it to car wash one time. Mileage shows 120, but odo did not work when I got car, so it could have more.

Cool! I'll talk to my brother and see what he thinks (he's not answering his phone, so it'll probably be tomorrow).

Thanks!

What machine shop are you using?
DJ's, which is east of Lexington, on highway 39, I think; I've been by their shop, but it has been a long time--I'm not directly involved in this particular episode. They used to be in Norman, but they moved several years ago. They've done several engines for my family, including the 390 in my Galaxie, but I don't think they've done many (if any) SHO V6es.

Tim--I talked to my brother about it, and he's interested, but concerned that doing the 3.0/3.2 swap may just be delaying the inevitable, and he'll be back in the same position again before too long (he commutes from Denton to Dallas, so he racks up the miles). Next weekend is a bye week, so he's thinking about heading up to take a look at it if you'll be available.

Tim is on vacation right now and will be for 2 weeks with no computer. There really isint much to been seen, I'm sure the motor is clean but it still needs to be pulled from car.

Well, he found out that NESHO sells built 3.2s for the MTX, so he's looking at that now. I guess we'll see what happens next...

It's looking like Tim's 3.2 is back to the top of the list...

I have the entire car for sale in my classified ad. $300, then you can part out the trans, and take the car to a salvage for another $80, you could end up making some money. Just need it gone! And I have no time to part it out. Come and get it and make some money!

It would take a bit of work to get it nice. It runs and drives (at least it did before I pulled the starter), but needs lots of attention. Great parts car. If you are interested in a running/driving car, I should have an very well priced MTX in my classifieds ad soon.

Yeah, it was good to meet you, too. Now I have some more lovely yard art--I call it "Car on Trailer With Trashbag For Window."
