Hey guys, I’m in contact with a dealer (not ford dealer) about a used 2016 sho that my wife and I are looking at picking up. I was wondering if one of you guys with dealer level capabilities could run the VIN and let me know if anything major has been done to it under warranty?

Vin is 1FAHP2KT3GG157708

Thanks in advance you guys!!

No warranty claims that I can see from pts. No E.S.P. warranty start date was september 29, 2017.

Appears to be a white tri coat, performance pack with climate controlled seats, navigation. Sync has not been updatesd from version 1.0. If you want android auto it will have to be updates. Apple car play will require a new media hub.

No-sony sound, hd radio, blis/CTA, heated steering wheel, auto wipers.

Shipped to I-75 Ford?

You guys ought to be more careful - over at Ford-Trucks.com, some of the guys got in trouble. Reason being, the VIN was checked for in the logs, and the culprit found.

What all goes into getting sync updated to get Apple CarPlay? I was under the impression that 16+ had sync 3 already equipped.

No. Early sync 3 (version 2.2? Or earlier) did not come with the proper hardware/software. Later sync 3 systems had it. Since this car currently has version 1.0 sync software, neither will be usable.

To fix it, sync has to be updated to the latest version (3.0), and the media hub replaced with the correct updated part. The dealership has access to a publication on this. The media hub is plug n play after sync is updated.

Can you explain further. I don't understand why or how someone would get in trouble for a V.I.N. check.

Yes, 2016+ are SYNC3 but there are different versions. SYNC3 version 1.0 does not support car play, I believe it's either version 2.2 or 2.3 and up that support carplay. You should be able to update yourself, I think either over the air if you connect the car to wifi or you can download to a USB drive plug into the car and it will update itself.

The USB hub has to be the new style with 2 USB ports to work with car play, I think I paid $40 or so on ebay for mine(you also need the trim piece around it since it's smaller than the old style). You may also need a harness, I know the connector has changed a couple times, my 2013 was not the same as the new USB hub. Ford only sells pigtails you have to splice but 4D Tech sells ones with plugs on each end for not a ton more, you just have to know which version you need.

So running the VIN can get you in trouble? Would you mind posting the thread. I am really interested in seeing it.
