If its under 100$ cheap , leave it stock. There is no such thing as cheap perf mods on a sho.

from what I have read the best bang for your buck mod would be the y-pipe

Yup on the MTX , a good start is the Y pipe. You can get this at shosource.com

Then you can play with a set of BBBs (big bore butterflies) , and some porting. Underdrive pulleys , cams , tuners will help your wallet to get thiner too.

Stay away from cold air intakes , the gains are so low , you'll want your money back. Bigger MAFs needs tuning chip , so when you decide to replace it , its far from cheap.

Y pipe, keep the stock air box but yank the silencer cone out, and do all the 60K maintenance and throw a 100 shot at it.

that's generally the cheapest way to go fairly quick in these cars from what I understand short of gutting the interior and cutting weight everywhere possible.

As far as the engine goes, these are your best bets. The better "performance" gains can be found in suspension and brake work. Making the overall package better balanced is your best bet! :salute:

as stated above start with the y-pipe. and personally after that I would go bigger brake kit before you even put anything else on. You'll be happy you did it sooner than later. ;)

best mods are maintenance!

if you got faulty parts replace them with something better, now this truly makes driving the SHO more enjoyable 100% of the time, not just on a dyno or something. Big brakes, upgraded suspension bushings and parts, drivetrain stuff

personally? go big or go home, get the 13" brake kit. but even the 96+ upgrade kit which has 11.6" rotors would be an upgrade over stock. but for how heavy this car is, it needs a lot of stopping power. and especially if you want to make it faster.

would the 13" kit fit inside stock blade wheels? im trying to keep the sleeper ish look of the car. and does anyone have a used y pipe they are willing to part with?

no the 13" kit wont fit with slicers, Im pretty sure the 11.6 upgrade will though, not too sure about the 12" kit with slicers.

and as for the used y-pipe, post in the wanted to buy section of the forum for one.
