My son sells cars and they have a 2010 sho on the lot with 91 k on it . They will sell it to me for 10k.

Car looks really clean and seems to run well.
What should I be concerned about?

Thanks in advance.

I have had a few turbo cars
03 Evo making 650
2019 sti
2020 sti
2005 sti

So not new to the turbo scene.

Thanks again

Turbos and water pump tend to fail around the 180-200k km (110-125k mile) mark.
IMO, $10k is a bit high for a 2010 unless all those have already been replaced.

Ok thanks I appreciate it.

It’s on the lot of 12990

Don’t think the Chevy dealer knows if they have been done or not.

They likely don't. You will want to change the lifetime PTU fluid (which is far from lifetime) and listen for timing chain noise.

Chains stretch and tensioners wear down. Also these cars have an internally mounted waterpump which in some cases can leak into the engine instead of outside the block. This cna make it go boom. So usually a timing job would want to include chain, tensioner, h2o pump, and maybe cam phasers.

For drivetrain, you want to change all tran ny fluid, pty, rear diff fluid. Coolant has approx 100k life and that is something to look at. Space this stuff out unless you have piles of cash and time.

Turbo stuff is old. have it checked. pull codes if you can

So what does a timing chain/ water pump cost in these cars? Yeah I’ll change all the fluids right away.

Thanks for the reply!

It costs alot. couple thousand. There are posts on here with different costs in different places. You have to compare to labor rates in your area and cost of parts. Inflation..who knows what things cost now? You could do it yourself if you research it enough.

Yeah I figured around 2 k at a dealer, don’t have time to wrench anymore. My Evo was easy to work on.

might be more. Look around the maintenance part of this section or use the search function and narrow down to Gen IV section to locate. I remember a thread or two discussing this with different prices

If they do t have an answer on if it’s done or not I’ll pass on it. Don’t feel like sinking 3-4 into a car that is 10k already and won’t be worth 13 when done. I am assuming the turbos haven’t been touched either.

Or I’ll have to call afore dealer to have them check for records if that’s even possible to do.

Appreciate the responses.

Now I found a 2013 with 70k on it with a transferable warranty to 100k of March 2024. Guy wants 15k for it. Car is super clean and has most service records on it.

Is this a decent price for it?

That is right at Kelly blue book value given the mileage for whatever that means. I see a 14 with double the mileage for $500 less. Lower mileage is worth paying a little more for unless it was beat to h3ll. Can you get a mechanic to look it over on a lift and a scanner? That is worth paying for. If it's good a little extra money, if it is observably not worth buying that will save you a S-ton of money.

Unless there are records for certain fluids being changed at some point--all that is still on the table over some reasonable timetable. Part of ownership..

Definitely sounds like a better deal and you get the last "new" facelift.
I did read about some "issues" or let's call them, "disadvantages" on the 2013 vs a 2015, I think around Sync.
For the record, I own a 2010 an I am a happy camper. Just trying to give you the best advice.

I don't hate this car unless it is a mess. I'm not familiar with all the ins and outs of Premium warranty but that is a bonus. It's high book value but I would really consider it. Warranty is transferrable correct? I would do it if it was in the budget and looking for a used with reduced downside
