Lock nuts that won't come off

The SHO I have came with lock nuts and no key. Also, they were adhered, probably by rust, and impossible to get off. So I did what any idiot should do and tried to use a 4in grinding disk to grind them off. This didn't work though.

Drilling through them didn't work.
God knows the sawzall didn't work.

As you can tell they are supremely butchered. Is there any technique or cutting appliance that has worked for anyone else?

Just in case you are wondering, no socket will ever fit on them again. Yes I am prepared for the ridicule... rant

I believe Snap-On Tools makes a kit of socket-like items for that purpose. There are a couple of these "sockets" in the set, each of which tapers, cone like, inside. You hammer these on (start lightly) and use a 1/2" drive breaker bar with steady pressure to remove.

Have patience. Hacking will get you nowhere...(been there, done that...) .

Sears Craftsman Bolt-Out set.

Just find the right size and those old locking lug nuts will be removable.

You might try a "Gator-Grip" socket. They aren't good for much else, but I have heard they can replace lost lug nut keys.

take it to a muffler shop and have them weld a lug nut to it, then you might be able to get it off. At my shop, we find a socket and pound it on the lock, then use an impact gun to get it off. Trying to use gradual pressure (4-way wrench) will not work, you'll just strip it out. Good luck!
