Okay, so I was getting my tires balanced before I go to the track this weekend and Discount Tire was giving me a hard time about the load rating on my tires. I have 2 sets.
1. 225/55r16 Dunlop Star Specs
2. 235/45r17 Hankook RS3's

He said that the Star specs were significantly under the load rating for my vehicle and the Hankooks were closer, but still under. Now my vehicle is a '94 MTX. It has a fairly significant amount of weight reduction done to it....a/c delete, racing seats, no rear seat, interior 1/2 gutted (still have door panels and headliner), no sparetire etc.

Are these tires unsafe for my application?

StarSpecs are load rated at 1300lbs and the Hankooks are 1477lbs.

And to think, discount didn't even mention that to me when I had them install 245/45's on the OZ's.....oddly enough, their weight limit matches for the wheel and tire....how odd.
