Had a few extra beers last night and finally pulled the trigger on the Mycal tuner. I have a 2014 PP SHO with 35k. I have previously had a 1999 SHO that was a blast. I did not get the spark plugs or thermostat. Not to be needy, but can any one break down what the benefits of the 3map and tstat are and how difficult these installs are? I do realize I would need new tunes if I add them. I'm a bit of a novice on car mods. Thanks!

map sensor is a 3 minute job. T stat about 20. I didn't notice much a difference but for the money I can't complain. U will for sure need a new tune with the map sensor and tstat but ur tuner should hook u up.

Congrats on taking the leap! You will probably find yourself doing the plugs sooner rather than later, because the OEM plug gaps will be too wide for the tune. The parts cost is cheap. That is why is always recommended to replace the plugs whenever you get a tune, so you know the plug gap you are starting with.

3bar MAP basically gives you more control over measuring boost & boost spikes accurately. 2bar goes to 14.7 psi, 3bar to 29.4 psi. Then build in an error factor of 10% at the extremes. Now, the 2bar is measuring 13.2 psi, the 3bar 26.5 psi. Hotter tunes run more boost, typically, and you don't want the spikes to be incorrectly measured. NOTE: Replace the MAP on top of the intake manifold.

Colder TStat allows you to run a hotter tune by opening earlier & starting the cooling earlier. A tune adjustment will also start the fans earlier keep them on longer to reduce wear & tear as well as to enhance cooling. Hotter tunes literally create more heat per unit of time and this is the easiest way to keep everything running cool.

You guys rock. Thanks for the quick responses. The plugs shall be replaced gapped appropriately ASAP but probably not before I flash the tune. ;) My next question is... What did I order? I ordered direct from livernois with no tune options. How "hot" is my tune? Should make immediate other mods before just a ecu tune? Still have a warranty but I'm ok with the risk but will be flashing back to stock before getting free limited maintenance.

No other mods necessary once you regap the plugs. Would strongly advise 3bar & TStat though.

AFAIK, when you order tunes for the 2013+, there is only the V8 tune, version 3 or 4 by now. You should contact them directly for clarification just to be sure. Including whether 93 octane/3bar/TStat are a REQUIREMENT or an OPTION. If it's a requirement, you know the tune's "hot".

Welcome to the family!

We will get you hooked up with your 3BAR and tstat whenever you are ready...just let me know. The retuning that is required with the 2 new parts is a service that we offer at no additional cost!

As for the install on the pair of parts it is like a 3 of 10 on the difficulty scale with the 3BAR install being a negative 800 on that scale lol. Literally all that you need to do is unscrew the engine oil cap, pop the engine cover off and then unscrew the 2BAR that is arms length away from you on the intake manifold. The tstat is SLIGHTLY more involved...you need 2 tools instead of 1 lol. Simply follow the upper radiator hose to the engine, remove the hose from the block, remove and replace the tstat. I recommend using the engine cover or a bucket to catch the runoff coolant. Then burp the coolant system. THAT EASY!

Burping...take car..throw over shoulder...pat on the roof or trunk a few times till you hear a gurgle. Wait a minute or 2. She may get heavy at this point. If so, put car on ground..walk away, then sneak up behind her and scare her. That should clear up any more burping or hiccup issues. Lmfao. Sorry. The burping thing always makes me think of this

Tune is on its way! Should be here Wednesday night. Is it imperative I replace the spark plugs before I tune? Is there a risk to wait a week or two?

Also, when returning to the dealer for maintenance/warranty work: I've read that flashing to stock, disconnecting the batt and then driving a few miles is the best course of action. Am I missing a step?

The only issue you would have with the plugs would be if the gaps are off. I would say load the tune and if it runs a little rough or you seem to have shuddering under acceleration, reload the stock tune and get the plugs ordered. It only takes a couple minutes to load the tune back to stock, so it wouldn't be a big deal.

Back from vacation, tuner is here, info sent to Livernois, plugs on order. Was talking to a buddy of mine with an S4, I could see him getting more and more ****** about my American muscle. I'm a recovering VDub head. I'm giddy

Congrats on the purchase.

I'd personally at least check the gaps of the plugs before tuning...myself, I'd have the correctly gapped plugs in there from day 1. No need for some spark blow out from a random plug being more in the range of .040 gap.

Tstat & 3bar make alot of sense also.

I'd put in new plugs before the tune, personally. But, if you want to tune first, definitely pull the existing plugs, just the "front" 3 that are easily accessible. You'll know straightaway how bad/good things are likely to be. No point in basically doing a spark plug job just to do it over again with new plugs, IMHO.

Just applied the LMS v8 and these came up as well as a C1b00 code before tune. Thoughts?

Did this happen during the process of applying the tune, or did this error show up before?

The C1B00 is a code for the steering angle sensor, and the blindspot alert could be caused by a faulty sensor. If the car is running well otherwise, I'd try pulling the neg battery terminal for 30 min, letting the system reset, then see if the codes/errors return as you drive the car. Sometimes flashing a tune can pop up false codes, although usually a "communication" code or two (like a U1000) is also present.

You have checked to see if your SHO is included in the halfshaft recall? Might be worth it being checked anyway.
