That is normal on my EB Flex. When you shift to M, you are actually shifting into Grade Assist mode, manual mode does not occur until you shift to M and hit a paddle to shift either up or down.

Quite right, FR -- My new 'vette is the same as our SHO's in that respect.: Manual mode isn't initiated until after actuating the paddleshifter.

I would have preferred to be able to manual shift without being in M for just a temporary manual override. -- That the SHO won't do.

As an asside: I wish automakers would standardize the paddle's direction of travel for shifting up and down. Unfortunately GM and Ford don't see eye to eye and have reversed the pattern.:rolleyes:

I have NO WILLPOWER! Sent an e-mail to Rick at Livernois asking for the Stage 4+ tune and within a few minutes I had it. Loaded it in to the Flex and took it out for test drive... OMG!

Early observations:

Boost is up a bit. I seen peak boost of 11.x. (my boost gauge is not in the best location! LOL) According to Livernois it is a 2.5 to 3 PSI boost over stock. The big thing is the boost definitely comes on earlier and more of it! I noticed I was seeing 5 to 6 PSI very early at part throttle where as before i would only see a few pounds of boost! The power delivery is amazingly smooth!

Timing is bumped up a bit. Stock I think I was seeing 16 to 17 degrees of timing... With the Stage 3 i was at 18 to 19 degrees...With Stage 4+ I wasi seeing 20 to 21 degrees.. I am running 93 octane... no sign of any detonation... For the track I will probably put in some 100 Unleaded... Looking into the Torco Accelerator concentrated race fuel for those tracks that don't have unleaded race fuel...

When I went WOT the A/F immediately dropped to 11.8 then settled in 11.1 to 11.3.

They did put some torque management back in... most noticeable on the downshifts... a slight delay and not nearly as harsh! From a dead stop the shifting was still nice and firm! To me this is a very nice improvement!!! IMHO it is now more pleasurable to drive on the street while still having the great performance from a dead stop!

Speaking of performance... I did my usual 0-60 MPH test with the DashHawk

Stock my 0-60 MPH tests were 5.95 seconds. Best with the Stage 3 tune was 5.03 seconds. Based on my time slip from my 13.7 1/4 run, i get 5.07 seconds. Very close!

Then on the cold day at the track I ran a 13.5 which calculates to 4.92 seconds

With Stage 4+ the new 0-60 from the DashHawk:

Unfortunately it's going to be in the 80's this weekend!! ARGH! So no real point in going to the track... BUT once it cools off again, i think the Flex should be in the 13.3 range. This would be right in line with what Livernois is seeing with their Flex and the Stage 4+ tune. COME ON COLD WEATHER!!!! LOL!

Great job, Rick and LMS!

Very cool, Scrming.....nice to see differences on gauges. Most of us don't have them and can only judge by the 'butt-dyno' and hope for the best.

Muchos tnx for posting observations and results.

Your pickups over stock are amazing and further adds to Livernois' rep and great product results. Kudos Rick and Dan at Livernois.

Good luck at the track next cool day. Hope to see you in the 12's keeping Bob (EcoBrickBob) company soon giving him a little comp. for top dawg. :woo-hoo:

How much were you running when stock? If stock you were running 5.95 from 0 to 60 mph and now you are running it in 4.80 seconds. Given that you are reaching a bit more than 100mph in the 1/4 mile... you should see at least 1.15 seconds improvement right? And that would imply that from 60 to 100mph you wouldn't have any improvement. So, if you expect a 13.3, were you running more than 14.5 stock? The explanation in that distortion of numbers resides in the fact that now that the car is faster, it takes less distance to reach a certain speed and therefore, you need to reach higher speed to cover the 1/4 mile distance. So I'd be curious if you have that stock 1/4 mile time and trap speed. Because I believe that we can evaluate the improvement of the car also with trap speed. Both datas toegether will give you the best approximation of the gains in power.
Thanks!

Ok... this is what i've come up with:

100% Stock at Lapeer - 14.23 @ 98.9 MPH - DA was about 750

Stage 2 at Milan - 13.86 @ 99.1 - DA was about 275

Stage 3 at Lapeer - 13.69 @ 100.4 - DA was about 1200.

Stage 3 at Lapeer - 13.54 @ 100.8 (did have a 101.3) - DA was in the 120 to 200 range

So ET is dropping pretty dramatically but trap speed is going up slowly... not sure what kind of increases in trap speed i should expect... My Flex is about 5200 pounds with me in it... Plus of course there is the whole aerodynamic thing... or lack there of! LOL!

Not sure I can catch Bob... I kind of like the idea of the Flex being 100% stock except for the tune! LOL!

For those interested, I have new videos of my car with stage 4 + running in the 12.7's . There is one from the outside running a 12.769 at 107.9mph
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7n8oa508kI
and one that I filmed from the inside... started late but still beat that Camaro SS that had an aggressive tune in it and an intake 12.74 vs 12.85... One thing for sure, the SHO is much more consistent than the Camaro. And those Camaro SS, when they are stock have difficulty to break under 13.5 sec.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRumeg1W1PM
Enjoy!
P.S. For all other videos on youtube : type steve142857 and you will see the evolution of my car with mods... 13.6 at 102mph to 12.7 at 108mph... Soon, 12.5 at 110 mph! ; )

Another item. If you recall, I mentioned the shift handle was loose and would turn back and fortrh left and right. It can't be tightened as it's built as 1 unit, and the entire shifter must be replaced Part on order. Seems awfully wasteful to me!!!!!

I have the exact same problem. Mine seems to be getting worse, covered under warranty, i'm just too lazy to get to the dealer!

My MPH in 1/4 mi is considerably higher.... My 12.901 arrived at 106.85 MPH.
My issue is front traction. If I can get the traction I need, I should be at least .2 better, considering my speeds. Plan is a pair of 18" x 9" or 9.5" wheels with 285-40-18 NITTO 05R for the front. They are the same diameter as Conti DW's.

My first run ever late Sept 2010... with Torries Boosted Tune, my home-made CAI, the rear Magnaflows, & Conti DW's got me a 13.521 at just under 101 MPH. Don't know what the DA was, but track is at 850 and it was 75+ out. At some point, I am going to try my stock 20" RS-A's, as the DW's don't bite when it's under 60 deg.

I am also convinced that the NESHO mid-pipe installed this April helps me more than I expected.

So some more data. This is STOCK vs LMS Stage 4+

Here is data log from the STOCK tune:

Flex_stock_data.jpg

Notice, at 3900 RPM the boost is at 8.56 PSI, Timing is 15* and A/F at 12.78. The Timing they kind of jumps around a bit, anywhere from 15* to a single peak of 20*, but for the most part it's in the 16* to 18* range. A/F seems to bounce around a bit too...

Now the data from the LMS Stage 4+ tune:

Flex_Stage4_Plus.jpg

Here at 3700 RPM the boost is 10.3 PSI! Timing is 19* and A/F is 12.29. The thing that really stand out to me is the Timing. It is very smooth! 2nd gear is almost completely 22* and 3rd gear is a flat 21*. The fact that the timing is so smooth makes me think there is no hint of any detonation. If there were I think the knock sensors would show with some timing being pulled.

Now I'm no expert on this stuff... but to my untrained eye the data looks pretty darn good!

Can hardly wait. I ordered my white plat 2012 with nav, adaptive cruise, and 20 inch wheels august 20 and I am still waiting, seems there is a restraint on awd parts. The car should be built next week. The funny part( not so funny) is that I have had purchased the tuner from Rick the week I ordered the car and when I get the car I will call him for the tunes. Can't wait.

Been there done that, but my wait for the car was 5 months! -- worth every second of the wait tho and the tune is worth every penny.

Hope you get the car soon. When mine was on order from December '10 to May '11, there were several holdups including all wheel drive parts and a red paint ingredient.

There's a thread on it somewhere -- lol, just about drove me and everyone else around the bend:nut::nut:.....Got thru it tho with help from these guys.:)
