Livernois Alky pump will refuses to prime.

I just finished installing a Livernois Methanol injection system and it took awhile for the pump to prime. The light turned green and the motor bogged down so it appeared to be working. I check for leaks and find one fitting at the pump was leaking so I tightened it a little and still leaked. So I removed the hose and re-attached. Drained the meth tank in the process so re-filled it after. Appears there are no leaks so try it again and now the pump is refusing to prime? Tank is higher than the pump so it should gravity feed. Any suggestions?

I have emailed both Alky control systems and Livernois but since its a holiday weekend not sure I will get a timely reply.

Did you turn up the gain on the controller, should run around 6 or 7 on the dial

I found if you don't have to washer's between the nozzle and the housing then it will jam up the nozzle and you can't get flow through it

Yep. Turn the gain to 8. Then hold the test button. It will run the pump faster to prime. Yes sometimes it takes a while. But the gain setting also effects the motor speed when you're hitting the button.

Turn it back down after.

Thanks for the replies. I did have the gain all the way up when hitting the test button. It took multiple times which seemed like a minute or two each time and eventually it did prime. Seems excessive to me. Not sure if this is normal but it appears to work fine now. No leaks.... yay.

Ran it with my standard 3bar tune and felt pretty much the same as without the meth. I actually thought it would slow it down assuming it would be running too rich. I installed the meth tune and took it back out. I believe it feels better but difficult to say. Guess I will find out when I take it to the track.

Are you saying you installed two washers on the nozzle? I saw the kit had two but only used one on the inside because it looked like I would not get even 1 thread on using both washers. It appears to be flowing well because it is going through the meth fairly quick.

Yes once you get it to thread you can get 4-5 full turns on it. and use lock tite on it.
and if it's the lms meth tune it will eat a bunch of it too! the M15 with the kit is huge. my ajp tune uses an m5 and made 50 more HP on 1/3 of the meth

I just want to follow up with the answer I received from Alky Control in case anyone ever has the same issue.

"To prime, leave the hose disconnected from the nozzle assembly. Put GAIN on position 8, turn ignition ON, push and hold the test button till liquid flows. Fill a small bottle's worth like 16 oz.

The nozzle has a check valve and if the line is full of air, won't let it prime.. once liquid flows out.. it will be fine."

good to know! I also found if you fill the system and then loosen the intake line at the pump head and bleed all the air out between the tank and the pump this helps too.
