The differences in SCT handhelds is really all user preference. The tuning aspect is the same, the BDX offers cloud functionality while the X4 and the Livewire TS+ both require a computer to download/upload tunes and datalogs. The Livewire TS+ offers a touch screen and a better display for real time performance gauge displays, where X4 has buttons and uses a dynamic Excel style layout for data viewing. The Livewire TS+ also offers "track apps" that can give you estimates for hp/tq and a decent performance timing system for getting a close guesstimate on 1/4 mile times, etc.

As for the thermostat, our personal recommendation is to do it, and it does allow for coolant to start flowing through the turbos quicker, which helps to keep them cooler for longer, leading to a more consistent and repeatable performance.

I noticed it's a 2.5 bar map sensor, what's the psi difference compared to the 3 bar? Also how are your HP gains compared to others and lastly does the BD tuner download to my phone?

The BDX does not interface with your phone, once you receive it you will register an account at SCTFlash.com and it will sync to your email address. Tunes since from us/other tuners will sync directly to the handheld through the cloud, and then when you datalog you will be able to export the files to the cloud and receive an email copy.

Currently the only options that allow for phone app integration are the SCT iTSX and the HPTuners RTD+. We are currently out of stock on the HPTuners RTD+ but are supposed to have more shipping to us tomorrow. Unknown quantities yet and we do have a small back order status on them that will be fulfilled ahead of new orders.

As for the map sensor, the difference is primarily due to cost. Since the 3 bar is now consider a Ford Performance item since no vehicles use a factory 3 bar, the price has been pretty volatile and fluctuates between $80-$130 depending on each shipment, where the 2.5 bar is still a factory offering on many Ecoboost vehicles and therefore retains a more static pricing offering. The 2.5 bar is good to 23 psi, where the 3 bar is good to 30 psi, but no stock turbo SHO will ever see more than 22 psi and that's usually on a spike, stock turbos should never maintain more than 18 psi so there is really no need for a 3 bar. We can provide a 3 bar if desired, but the cost will be adjusted to reflect the offering and we don't keep the 3 bar in stock so orders can be delayed.

Unfortunately I don't have competitor tune data readily available, so you would need to check their websites for information. I know the Gearhead AO tune we ran on our shop car for a bit before we got heavily into the Ecoboost game dyno'd 330hp on 91 octane, but that was 4 years ago and I'm not sure where they are today.
