These results will not impress many of you tuned SHO guys but we have only begun to tune my Continental. AJPturbo has a few more tricks up his sleeve. The DA was over 2500 for these runs and my IAT 2 was at 150 at the start and 185 at the end of the runs. Better and cooler air would have me in the 12s with no further tuning tweaks. I am car 505.

Great numbers with those odds! Did you pop the hood or remove the firewallside weatherstrip?

What was car 611? RWD, big block, big turbo, ...?

It was a BMW M3 that was modified. It had the most ear splitting scream I have ever heard. I did pop the hood between runs but the weather stripping on the Conti is not as easily removed as on an SHO or MKS. I didn't even take the engine cover off although I probably should have done that.

I hadn't planned to go back to the track until fall when the weather is more cooperative but since it is so much fun, I ran at Brainerd last night. I am disappointed in the results. I am running an E40 tune and the logs looked very promising. The car feels brutally fast. However, the timeslips do not lie. It is not as fast as I thought it would be. To avoid wheelhop, I have to launch the car pretty gently but I was still expecting better results.

We had a little better air last night at Brainerd Raceway. Car ran well but I can only launch at around 1200-1400 RPM or I get wheel hop. My best 60 had wheel hop but my best quarter mile was the easy launch. Here is a video of the run against car 403, a Mustang GT 5.0 with intake and exhaust.

Normally, late model V8 Camaros are very formidable at the drag strip. Apparently the driver in this video either took a little nap at the starting line, killed the engine or ran to the concession stand for a cold drink after we staged.

Awesome! Keep chipping away at that ET... as we move into fall it'll only get better and better.

I was thinking of going to Cecil this morning and kinda wish I had... DA was 300ft when I would've made my first pass

I am going to Rock Falls, Wisconsin in mid-October. There is a good chance of very low DA at that time. If I could launch hard without wheelhop, I think my fat soft Continental might run a 12.5 in good air.

I went to Rock Falls on Sunday to run and it was incredibly busy. To make matters worse, it had rained during the night and it took nearly all day to dry the track and they only got ONE LANE suitable for running. They cancelled the competition and just let everyone make a pass. I was satisfied with my trap speed but a little disappointed in the ET. For whatever reason, the latest tune revision is not quite as strong as the one before it.

I think the engine is making good power but the transmission shifts are too slow and soft. My old MKS would snap my head back and chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift. With the Continental, my head actually dips forward at the shift point as though power is cut. I have reached out to Brad to see if he can firm things up.

Yes, I can hear the sluggish 1-2 shift.. Other than that the sixty just needs some improvement for some

For some reason, all 2.7 and 3.0 engines in transverse applications seem to also have a lag right after shifting to 3rd. The Fusion Sport and Lincoln MKZ guys have been complaining about it ever since those vehicles were introduced. My car has the same issue. Tuning helped it but didn't eliminate it.

These 2.7 and 3.0 engines have a narrower powerband than the 3.5 ecoboost. My car likes to run in the 5200-6200 RPM range for best performance. When it shifts to 3rd, it drops just below that sweet spot.

Bruce, I'm about to pick up a 2017 3.0 AWD MKS, so with the Livernois tune loaded, when the Track reopens in March, since the MKS is about 100lbs lighter
I'm Hopefully expecting 12.70's? Btw what does the Continental weigh...

You must mean MKZ?? The MKS never used the 3.0. The Continental weighs around 4600. I think the MKZ is around 250 pounds lighter than the Continental. The Conti has a 3.39 gear and the MKZ has a 3.16 so that helps the Conti launch pretty well in spite of the weight.

I don't know what to think of Livernois' MKZ tune. There is a guy on Facebook with a Livernois tuned MKZ who can't get out of the 13s. I have seen others on different forums run much better. I would think 12.70s should be attainable without much trouble. The MKZ and Continental both suffer from terrible IAT2 heat. Their intercoolers do not seem as efficient as SHOs or MKSs. They also have a tendency to wheel hop if launched too hard. Lastly, in spite of tuning, it doesn't seem that the transmissions shift as quickly and firmly as an SHO or MKS. I know that Livernois hasn't done nearly as much research or work with the 3.0 as they have with the 3.5 ecoboost. The 3.0 is a Lincoln only engine so there is not much demand for tuning.

Now, if you are talking about an MKS with the 3.5, I think 12.70s are very doable in decent air with a Livernois tune.

Turbo, do you already have the Livernois tune? If not, you might want to check with AJPturbo about a tune. He tuned my 3.0 and I suspect he learned quite a bit in doing so. We ran numerous datalogs and he made a number of tweaks. As far as I know Livernois has only had one MKZ in their shop. I am still waiting on them to offer a tune for my 3.0 Continental. I was told they were "close" but they have nothing for me yet. Not knocking Livernois but for a new engine like this, I think there is some merit in tuning, logging, tweaking, etc. as AJPturbo does.
