I don't how different the gen3s are from 1&2 but, I pulled all my carpeting out of the gen3 and their is NO WAY that it weighs 120lbs. or even anything close to it. Maybe 25lbs at the most.
I pulled the dash out but had help, so I don't know if was 150lbs. But it was alot closer to 150 than the carpet is to 120lbs:biggrin: . I of course put the dash back in (since i do kinda need it).
A fwe odd ball things that can be pulled out, all speakers and RCU. carpet material inside the doors, all venting pieces, heater core, AC unit, everything to do with the AC unit under the hood (maybe keep compres to keep same belt), airbags.
By removing the AC piece that looks like a radiator and sits in front of the Rad shoud remove maybe 5lbs (really light) but it "should" help cool engine down ALOT better.

Basically anything you don't use or need can go. you can see the heatercore is gone and the AC thing is still their. But it's gone now.
In fact the littel cable you see lying near the gas pedal is even gone. That does something with the button on the floor shifter. It just means I don't have to touch the brake when pushing the button in ( but I always will anyways)

dont know if they are different or i was just tired that night but i swear that carpet was heavy and the dash wasent no treat itself, basicly i did the compairision guessing around my g/fs weight so its rough estimate.
they says the mtx weighs 90 lbs and im telling you that thing is light as **** no way its 90 but who knows till you break out the scale haha

Living 2 turns away from atco i pretty much grew up there and raced every car i owned there. one nite i decided to just gut the sho and take it out. i think that i got close to 300 out of it and showed .3 at the track down from a 14.9 to a 14.68. but still i have no idea exactly how much i took out b/c i used a bathroom scale to weight it all!

I've removed 278lbs (conservative measurement) from my Gen4 DOHC.
-Carpet w/ insulation weighs 30lbs
-Rear Seat and Seat back 35lbs
-Passenger Seat 45lbs
-trunk latch + hinges=10lbs
-spare tire w jack 45lbs

I dont remember weights on the rest of this stuff but it accounted for 118 lbs
-speakers and both parts of radio (used back of radio faceplate to keep HVAC)
-3 door panels and deadener/insulation from driver door.
-rear and passenger seat belts
-trim from passenger side b pillar and door surrounds
-trunk interior
-brackets for baby seat tiedown
-cover panel from under steering column
-pass. vanity mirror/shade

Thats about all I can remember for now. I still have some work to do but so far it has resulted in a very noticeable difference in performance. I cant wait to see how it pays off on the strip.

On the street I held a nose on an H22 powered EG

idk, strip it. The comfort quality doesent go away if you keep just the seats right?

Yesterday I installed tan gen3 front seats in my 89. Very comfy seats I might add, and fit nicely. My lower back scale rated them at least 10 pounds lighter than gen1-2 seats. One was full power, one was half. Both gen3's were lighter than both originals.

There's an old saying that still rings true...

100 pounds is worth a tenth.

Shed 300Lbs from a car and it will be 3/10ths of a second faster in the quarter mile.

Translate that to a 3500lb car and you wuold have to lose half a ton of weight to turn a 16 second car into a 15 second car.

It's completely possible. I know it felt alot heavier than what the scale said.

If my scale is off by that much than I have removed 429lbs. :)

They absolutley do fit. You have to splice the electronics over. Other than that they fit beutiful.

I had the rear seat belts and hardware out for a while. That's about 10 lbs.

Hmm... I think a totally stripped out Gen3 would be pretty cool(if you had one with a crap interior to begin with). It would suck as a DD but for a track slut, **** yeah! No carpet, minimal dash, light racing seats in the front, no power window motors or anything in the door panels, and nothing else. One badass AX4N, the right tuning and minor mods.... I want to go buy my car back from the auction:cry:

My '92 weighed in at 3,2xxlbs... The '95 is probably pushing 3,4xxlbs (added some weight with the SC setup an SFC, lost some with 20lbs seats). My '92 ran very well and the only SHO it had problems with was Chris' (AutoSHO) old '92. They were about even with Chris slightly gaining the lead. When NA, my '95 was just slightly faster than Chris' car, even after all the NA mods I put on it.

On a full tank of gas, full weight (with a few things in the trunk and back seat), very worn tires, and my first time running the quarter mile, I pulled a 14.8 out of the stock '92.

what mods do you have??????????

A well balanced diet it seems. That removed weight must've made a helluva difference for your Duratec to keep ahead of that H22.
