Yea forget right away the aerocatch. 90$ a piece is just too much for me. I ordered a Fiberglass cowl hood and Im in need of hood pins.

I stopped on these 2 models.

Aluminum , black (would be nice on my white CF hood) , But alu? Strong enough?

Yeah screw aerocatch, I have those things on my car, and the hardware wasn't even stainless, the screws rusted within a month or so, and my car was garage kept.

Anyway, I think either of those would be good, aluminum is pretty strong I see no reason why that would be an issue. When I did mine however I set it up so my stock latch can still latch, so I have the stock latch and my hood pins holding my hood down. I had to slot the holes a bit, but I made it work and I feel a lot better having all 3 holding it down.

I Got the 2nd set the only thing is I got them with cables.

The only thing im going to do is swap out those screws for some stainless. I feel they would rust before the other hardware.

Those painted black aluminum pins will be bare aluminum in a couple months. They should hold though i have had mine for about 4 years now with no problem.

I have a kit that looks just like the second one. ~$12 from Autozone, and nothing has rusted in over 2 years of living in my driveway uncovered.

I'm using them on a factory steel hood, no factory latch.
