3" with the biggest, deepest sounding mufflers and resonator you can find.

You want to maintain velocity in the exhaust especially around the Y-pipes. I used to run the Performance Plus Y-pipe with 3 inch tubing connected to a Borla cat-back it was too much so I switched to the Magnaflow and it's smaller size tubes. Much better torque response for the street IMO. I believe the Borla is 3 inches in diameter.

IIRC, the Borla cat-back necks down to 2 x 2.25. I was happy to rid myself of it.

Really? Pipes look pretty big underneath there. You might be right though. Anyhow I'm satisfied with it but the heads have been ported out so there's plenty of air movement. Velocity is still something to keep in mind.

To get the best sound get all the resonator you can in there. SHO's are very hard to get to sound good. A NA car wouldn't need more than a 2.5" mid pipe IMO.

Dont go 3 inch if you are bone stock. I went 3'' with all possible bolt ons , a big resonator and 2 Borlas , and its still extremely loud.

And I tried 3 sets of muffs and 2 resonators.

I have a gutted y pipe, 4.5x24" resonator, and cherry bomb mufflers. Sounds pretty good. The cherry bombs went in once the dynomax's rusted through, sounds the same. Oh yeah, it started out as a dynomax cat back.

2.5" for an NA car unless you want it really loud. Several resonators, and try to place the muffler as far forward as you can. The more pipe behind the muffler, the less raspy and deeper the exhaust will sound. Especially if you neck down very slightly after the muffler, it will increase the effectiveness of the muffler quite a bit. That, and stick with single exhaust.

ok, so 2.5 mid pipe. do you want me to do my head pipes 2.5 if I can swing it also? most likely they will end up 2 1/4

nevermind. i'll leave the exhaust on this thing. i'm annoyed that I can't make it run. now it won't start. parts are typically 2 days out. not the car I was hoping it too be. gonna make it run and sell it.

won't disagree. I'm not a strong diag guy tho. You tell me what too replace and I can do it. but the main annoyance is parts availability. i can't wait 2 days for a part that I need to make my car run.
