If you want to keep it and costs are an issue then you will have to learn to work on them yourself like most of us have had to do. I rarely turned a wrench until I bought my 1st used and beat on sho in the 90's.

Flip side. If you bought a time bomb and can't justify huge parts expenses you might have to consider getting out of this car. I would find a really good tech and pay for a thorough inspection so you can make an informed decision. Feelings about cars can make you go broke. Been there done that. do not recommend.

Also, I know you are young but don't focus on the radio yet. Get the engine and mechanicals straight. That's the high dollar stuff that will f you up. a car that doesn't run and car note to still pay every month will make you soooo mad

The radio symptoms sound similar to when my battery was near death. A bad/weak battery will present itself in many ways, including erroneous engine faults.

Yes. these things eat batteries and not enough juice makes alot of stuff not run properly.
I'm still concerned about the ticking and leaks.
How many miles on this car?

Yeah this thing needs a healthy dose of expensive maintenance. THat ticking is probably the timing chain and needs a new timing chain, tensioners, water pump, maybe cam phasers and solenoids. Maybe a hose is leaking also. You need a good diagnostic, a plan of attack, and money. This is at the mileage where everything is in need of doing. Plus the PTU needs to have the fluid drained and refilled.

Warranty? Service records/history available? Car lots don't know anything about most of the inventory they have. They just get stuff at auction and sell it mostly.

I have no idea about damages per se. This is actually somewhat normal wear and tear. THese items wear out. It's just old enough, with enough miles, to need maintenance. Maybe they will exchange or I really don't know the specifics. I wish I had a clear cut path.

Really you need a good once over by a Ford tech to give you a realistic picture of where you are so you can make an informed decision. If you had a time machine many could have given you a list of what to look for and an independent inspection before you pull the trigger. This is just top of mind for many vehicles on here. You may not need everything I described. Don't get too worked up until you have a good recommendation from a pro who fixes/maintains these things on a regular basis.
