I have the same problem with my right rear. When I bled that line only a little fluid would dribble out at a time. Now I know it's locked on the rotor pretty good cause it gets rather toasty back there when I put my hand on the rim. It's not the e-brake cause I don't even have mine hooked up.....any ideas?

i checked the e-brake and it does return, but unfortunately, the rear left brake locked up real bad. i drove about 300 meters and noticed smoke on my side view mirror, comin from the rear left wheel, it was toasting real good. the car wouldnt even move when i let go of the brake pedal. so i drive back to my work parking lot and called and waited for Triple A :D . i knew i was gonna call them sooner or later. i will find out tomorow what the problem was, my sho was dropped off at a shop that i go to. i just barely made it home before midnight....

Did you replace the rubber hoses? If they are old they might be collapsing when hot, causing abnormal fluid flow, which could make your caliper's piston not move correctly. Second thought would be a bad rear proportioning valve, but it's most likely your rubber lines giving your brakes grief.

I'm going through the same thing now! headbang Driverside rear. Replaced the caliper and rotor, cable OK; still sticking. Noticed the proportioning valve was sticking and attempts to correct (wacking valve pistons? w/hammer) failed. Will be replacing that and the brake hose now. Those are the only components left, so hopefully...

after replacing the e-brake cables, when i disengage the foot parking brake, i hear a "swoosh" or "psshht" or some sort of noise. is this common? i started on using the e-brakes after it was replaced and it does work, and no longer lock my rear brakes when i want to get somewhere. also, the e-brake bulb is still out, bad bulb maybe or am i missing something?

thanks

The "swoosh" sound is probably coming from the automatic parking brake release which is vacuum actuated. It's probably the air releasing, my old ATX did the same thing.

As for the brake light, it's probably a bad switch on the foot pedal. Both on my ATX and my current MTX, the bulb rarely lights up when the pedal is engaged. The switch either has dirty contacts internally or just plain doesn't work.

I had to change my rubber hoses too. I redid my rotor and pads 2 weeks ago. When beeding them flow seemed fine. Weds my left rear started making noise. By the time I got it home it was so hot it fried everything. I had to replace the calipers, rotors, and pads again. This time I changed my rubber hoses too. That extra 40 bucks will be well spent. I did both rear. When I do my front brakes in a week or two I will be changing them out too. It was a expensive lesson to learn. At 115,000 I should not have cheaped out

I am doing the same project tomorrow.
I bought loaded calipers that include new brackets with sliders and everything for 149.99.

Seems like a good deal. I also bought new rubber hoses, and rotors.

make sure u guys get the Performance Friction Carbon metallic pads for the rears. i learned my lesson by replacing the rotors and pads three times in three weeks headbang . the squealing got annoying, i dont know what i was thinkin getting the semi metallic pads for the rears headbang .

ian559, since u replaced the brake hoses, ever consider getting the stainless steel brake lines? its a few more $$$$$ but its not a bad idea.... thumbup
