upgrading my headlights and im wondering what you folks would recommend for a replacement bulb.
im leaning towards LED because of the simple install but i need the best down road light projection i can get. So im willing to do what needs to be done to achieve the results im looking for.

Hid is the only real option we don't have any good led drop in's yet.
Unless you do a retrofit.
I would recommend mishimoto hide or led retro for price and quality

If your looking at bulbs and want the bightest hids Phillips night breakers are pretty good but osram has the best.

Any ballast upgrades? I notice they do cut back pretty good when first turned on as my newer mazda dosnt and they are very bright. I thought it was all really in the ballast box thing

I dont think they cut back. You have to remember that h.i.d is a controlled arc in gas. Like an ignition coil you have to jump up voltage to bridge the gap then you can lower the voltage to maintain the ark. If you scope a coil it almost looks like a heat beat graph.

The jump in intensity is the initial starting ark. There is no need to maintain that high intensity ark all the time.

Are you sure your mazda isn't LED? Seems more are going that way becuase cost of ownership is lower.

So I was looking to see if Mazda are using led bulbs that you can replace or built in like the morimoto and it seems they are doing it the same way as morimoto does it since there is only one plug on the housing C252da4b1ea7fb56a4d249ba329d047b

After doing a lot of research, I found an LED upgrade for my HIDs on my 2011. It is on amazon.com and is by Car Rover and is $79.99. It is truly a plug-and-play. It uses the HID Ballast. You unplug your HIDs from the cable and plug the converter into that same cable and put your light bulbs in. That's it. You have to look for D3S LED converion kit, NOT 9005.

Make sure you can turn the bulb to align them I hope there at least as good as a halogen

Can you get before and after pictures of the beam pattern?

My friend bought some for his van they looked as bright as his hids in the housing till I drove it and then they turned out to be pretty bad but we didn't mess with them at all to see if we could align them before the van got in a accident

I will I will have to let you know. I currently have my car in the air. I remove the bumper and I'm painting the grill and the wheels. So, I haven't had the car out at night. Hopefully in the next day or so I will have everything finished and I will reply to you at that time.

I just put LED's in my 2013 SHO, 75.00 for 2, a little wiring, they came with 2 prongs, so wired off the 3 prong female plug to the ballast, blue and black wire
Pleased with the color and brightness, don't think they goes as far but not off by much and a nice clean even pattern. I'll post some pics tonight maybe.
