The mtx subframes are the same between 89 and 95. There are two types of subframes from GenI and GenII SHOs, an mtx and an atx.

I would pull both of the subframes out and isnspect for rust around the corner mounts, since these frames are stamped out of 1/8" steel (unpainted from the factory) they tend to rust away quickly

Rust free mtx subframes unobtanimizing quickly.

thanks for clearifying that for me I knew of the difference between atx/mtx but wasnt 100% on gen1 sfs

Just letting you guys know the engine went in without a hitch. I left the transmission in the car and swapped engines and so far so good. I left the heads off and installed the shortblock minus the accessories and went from there. To do this though requires a load leveler on the crane and merely a little patience while lining everything up. The alternator rectifier is going out so I haven't put any real miles on the engine but so far it's running good.

Sweet! Nicely done. By the way, my alternator went out last summer, and I was shocked about how expensive they were. I bought a rebuild kit from rock auto A LOT cheaper. And it wasn't too hard to do. The main failure item is the regulator, which is inside.

so im in the same process...
doing a 3.2 swap. i just went through so much bs doing the trans work, dropping the subframe... blah blah blah.

seems its just easier to remove the axles and pull it all together? the heads are on and probably will stay on since the guy who wants the core would like a somewhat complete motor...

ive never pulled the engine or done anything topside... and i REALLY REALLY dont wanna have to drop the subframe and do all that again...
