The guys at the restoration place wanted 85 bucks. Is there a cheaper way that i could do this myself?

Whatever you do get it repaired sooner rather than later otherwise the damage will spread. Sorry I don't know anything about leather repair. I would like to hear what you have done though.

85 bucks is cheap for that kind of work. Get it done right away! Also, be sure to use leather softener about every 3 months. Also tinted windows. I got a windshield sun shade from JC whitney that "accordians" and stores on the A pillars - work great. My 93 leather is like new.

Depends. If it'e on the seat bottom, DIY, if it's on the seat back, pay them. Why? the bottom is much easier to remove than the back.
