My sunroof is leaking and I know I need to replace the seal. However, while I was looking at the sunroof, I noticed that in the middle of the sunroof along the back side there is approximately a 1/16" gap between the sunroof and the roof of the car. Is this a normal size gap? Will a new seal be thick enough to seal this? Also, has anyone purchased a new seal from Webasto lately? I'm having a hard time finding someone that can or will help me.

If your moonroof was installed when the car was made, it is not designed to seal. Mine has a gap at the back. It used to leak a little when I went to teh car wahs, but no anymore. If you open the moonroof, you can see 2 small holes towards the from windshield that drain the water to the bottom of the car. I believe there are 2 more at the back of the moonroof also. You may have one or more of these holes clogged with leaves or something. I would try flushing them out. You may just have something preventing it from draining the water away. To tell you the truth, the factory moonroof was not designed to seal, as I have been told.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea the sunroof wasn't supposed to seal. I'll double check to make sure the drains are not blocked. But I still need to get a new seal because of the terrible wind noise on the highway. I tried adjusting the sunroof, but it didn't help any. By the way, the sunroof only leaks when I take it to the car wash.

I have the same littl gap in my sunroof seal and it was just replaced by Ford. This was before I took ownership of the car but it costed the guy ~$150 from the dealership to have it replaced.
