Well the pickup issue has already been addressed by FORD. The intercooler actually works too well and gets moisture in it and the the throttle opens up it sucks up water. There is a TSB on that isssue. Most people just drive and rather ***** or sue then to find a solution to the problem. Im sure the the SHO is the did a google search they could find just about and problem and solutuons to them too. Just my two cents on that.

You realize that is not the problem I hope.......any condensation entering the intake would cool down the intake charge more. It is of course called "Meth Injection" in more knowledgable circles. So please, take your claimed story that originated on a Dodge forum elsewhere.

My future BIL's '12 F150 is having the same issue, so it isn't the trans. He got tired of dicking with the dealers and bought an aftermarket tuner. No issues since. I would presume it is more plausible that the factory ecu tuning is too "closed minded" if you will, and doesn't have enough range for atmospheric conditions.

IDK if there is any substance to the assertion that the intercoolers are so efficient they produce enough condensation to impact driveability. It seems rather unlikely. Though, in "more knowledgeable circles" methanol injection requires re-tuning. And enough water going into the intake at low RPMs will most certainly induce a stumble.

I ran methanol injection on a twin screw s/c car without retuning so I could pull more boost......if the factory tune is worth a damn, it won't act up.

Are these cases all across the country, or are they confined to certain areas? Plus the lawsuit will get absolutely nowhere....

A quick google will reveal that methanol injection requires a tune. No reputable shop would ever advise otherwise. There is a difference between doing it and it being a good idea, no matter how many smilies you post. Though since it will cause an excessively rich condition you may not have obvious signs like detonation, but the car will definitely not run optimally.

Regardless, inducing water into the intake unexpectedly at low RPMs will definitely induce a stumble. This practice has been done for years to break up carbon deposits and having done it myself, I can state with certainty you need to raise the RPM so the car does not stumble and stall.

No factory tune is set up to operate outside stock parameters. Period. The stock tune will only compensate to a limited degree.

Here is a google search of "does methanol injection require a tune". Do you see anyone stating "no"?

Depends on how much computing power and how closed the stock parameters are......which, mine wasn't "modern"...****, you could bump the boost up with just a golf tee, so I will give you that. However, it still sounds like the factory tune on the vehicle is set without enough room in its parameters for various weather conditions. Do you agree with this assumption?

I believe the primary reason for a tune after Meth is to raise the boost levels to take advantage of it.

For the most part you are correct. Its purpose is to further cool the air coming into the engine, thus preventing detonation.

kinda ironic I had a problem similar to this just today. (bought my car a month ago and have put 2k trouble free miles on it until today).

I drove about 80 miles one way problem free, parked my car and went inside for about 15 minutes. went out and got in my car to leave and it had a SUPER rough start, then very eratic idle and then it died. I tried this twice with the same result. from here I called the local ford dealer and got everything ready for them to come pick me up. about 20 minutes go by.. I try to start the car and it start just fine not one problem..

the dash showed a check engine light, so i went to a ford Dealer to get the code pulled but as I pulled into the service department the checkengine light disappeared.

I drove the car back home (about 80 miles) without any problems whatsoever and I test it by stoping and turning the car off then back on.

Super weird, has anyone expedrienmced this?

very happy with Bronde's ford in Maumee, Ohio. They really bend over backwards to ensure you are happy. dealerships cost more but sometime worth it.
