Anyone have symptoms with their Gen 4 SHO respective to TSB 14-0019. Also refer to Customer Satisfaction Program 12B36. Look them up, they are inter-related. I brought mine to the dealer to diagnose why my a/c would not work when the car was at idle. And sometimes the a/c would not work until after driving for a few minutes. Mostly at idle I have the issue, In addition the engine temp would rise to 210 degrees plus. Dealer could not recreate condition. Yet I recreated it as soon as I pulled out of dealer.

If you read the TSB closely, Ford addresses the issue by reprograming/recalibrating the PCM. Mine was supposedly up to spec. 12B36 clearly indicates an issue with the cooling fans building up contamination on the internal electrical contacts (carbon?). The PCM update is to run the fans more frequently to minimize the buildup.

Aside from discomfort from a lack of A/C, I do not think turbo bearings appreciate 210 degrees or more. When the fans are working with the A/C running, the engine temp reaches a max of 190. Fortunately I do a full synthetic oil change every 3k miles or 6 mos.

When my fans are faultily at idle, I simply bang on the fans and after a few taps, they run. Heck of a fix - hardly. When this heat wave dissipates, I plan to replace the fan assembly.

Why wouldn't the clowns at Ford HQ just replace the fans. Also if I replace the fans, will I be replacing them with a reengineered part or the same faulty part that will become symptomatic after 70k miles or sooner. This is my 2nd summer dealing with this nonsense. Anyone have or had this issue? Please advise.

Was the PCM ever updated in the past at a previous visit to the dealer? If you're not the original owner, get an OASIS report and everything a dealer did will be listed in there. This would explain why your PCM is up to date for that TSB, but your fans have already suffered.

I looked at that TSB - it clearly states for the Taurus to replace the fan motor (it says motor - not plural, even though there are two fans) and control module, but only if they don't startup when commanded to. I guess in your case, they just happened to start up.

I would call them, explain the situation, and have them replace the fan motors and controller, or do it yourself. It's a 2011 or 2012, so you are definitely outside of warranty at this point, right? Or are you working with an extended service plan?

I was advised the PCM had most recent updates. I will replace the fan assembly with a Motocraft replacement part. Thanks.
