I wanna do my struts with my spring install but I dont know what kind to get without making a hole in my wallet. I wanna do tockios but they cost a little too much right now, so I was thinking about KYBs, but are they any good?? Will the improve handling?? I have been told they are only slightly better than stock OEM struts. What do you guys think??

TIA!!

i have kyb's on eibach and its the worst ride qualitly you can get. The bushings on the strut rod and mounts take all the abuse. Don't do it! :bonk:

Keeping with the intent of this thread; What would be a good replacement strut for a GenII SHO?? One that will not break your bank account! My mechanic said my car has Motorcraft adjustable struts. Are these OEM?? They have a really hard ride to them, which is nice until you hit a bump.

Only Gen III's have that - your mechanic is incorrect. If you are keeping your stock springs - KYB's will be just fine.

They are blue and have Motorcraft on them. Are they after market struts?

I just got Kyb's on the back of my car and it feels great, now i just got to get rid of the clunking noise coming from the front of the car. Its got to be some kinda worn bushing, and seeing its been around 5 degres F every morning (-4 today!!), i'm sure the bushings are acting up even more. But the back feels tight and responsive. The car kinda rides smoother, but stiffer at the same time, which is the point of new struts i guess.

I would first check your endlinks for the front clunk, cheap and easy.

Motorcraft is Ford - but they are usually black. I just highly doubt that they are adjustable.

Well I just bought MOOG CCs new from a buddie, I think im gonna clip a coil and a half off the front and half a coil off the back, thats what people are telling me to do for the best look and performance. So how much do you guys clip MOOG CCs?? and will MOOG CCs paired with KYBs have a crap ride quality??

the line for the Taurus arent really for performance from KYB, you have to spend the money with lowering or stiffer springs if you want them to last, Im just going to use stock replacements for now or maybe Monroes. Save now spend later :p

...even the guys I bought them from said consider them as "stock" replacements and gave me back my money and said go buy Tokicos :|

Ok then, any other performance struts out there besides tockio that wont cost too much?

No. Koni's are about $420 shipped. Tokicos (if you can find them) are prob not too much cheaper but I don't like them.

Beg, borrow or steal to get the Koni's. They are worth it. They may not increase the resale value of your car. However, if I were in the market for another SHO and it came down to picking a car with KYB's and one with Koni's, I'd lean more toward the Koni car.
