Finally ran the codes and illustrated above are the numbers which were thrown during the diagnostic test. Presently, she will not start, crancks but does not catch. The CE light illumination is bright and the 10 amp fuse is not blown.

Reference my posting " No Start and No KOEO Diagnostic "

What are you thoughts ?

157 - Check your MAF Sensor.
211 - Crankshaft Sensor - Would cause your starting problem.
219 - SPOUT unplugged?
542 - Nothing to worry about
565 - Canister Purge Solenoid Failure (emissions)

The car is a 94 MTX with 180,000 km.

If one of the below mentioned electrical components had a short, which one would cause the ignition fuse, 10/15 Amp, to blow while starting ? Furthermore, this maybe a thermal related problem.

157 - Check your MAF Sensor.
Am I looking to see if the three thin wires are in tact ?

211 - PIP Ciruit fault. (Crankshaft Sensor - Would cause your starting problem.)This sensor was replaced last year during the bottom 60k. It is important to note that the 10 Amp ignition fuse did not blow over the months of trouble shooting. This is a big job to replace a $60 sensor. The Camshaft Sensor was not replaced.

219 - SPOUT unplugged?
Where is the connection located.

542 - Nothing to worry about

565 - Canister Purge Solenoid Failure (emissions)
How much effort is it to replace the solenoid.

More research - Engine Compartment Fuse Box

The 10A fuse which was repeatedly blowing is the ACCY FEED located at
position 11 in the Engine Compartment Fuse Box. According to the Electrical Diagram this fuse services the Antil-Lock Brake Control Module and the Anti-Lock Power Relay.

How and could a short in either of these two devices cause the fuse to fail ?

How and could either of these two devices cause a no start\ spark condition ?

The 10A fuse which feeds the Ignition System is named IGN COIL, located at position 12 in the Engine Compartment Fuse Box. The much appreciated feed back has been the replacement of the Crank-Shaft Position Sensor (CPS). My caution into going down this road is due to the fact that the tach needle does no sit flat at "0" rpm but bounces up and down during crancking.

Having a tough time, further thoughts required.

My '94 ATX has similar problems that haven't been diagnosed yet. It's been sitting dead in the water for several months. I have a 212 and 214 code, have tach reading while cranking, replaced DIS and PCM, and still have no spark. Fuses are good and have been checked. Let me know when you diagnose your problem please. It might help me chase my gremlin down...

even though the crank position sensor was replaced, it does not guarantee that it will function properly for the next 60K miles. could last 1 minute, could last 1 million miles...

try disconnecting the coolant level sender and replacing the 10a fuse. The sensor will fail and short the ignition circuit. Solved the no spark problem on my 94

The Sensor - Coolant has been disconnected for some time and utilizes the 10A fuse at position 12 of the Engine Compartment Fuse Box. The fuse in question is in postion 11 of the above mentioned Fuse Box.

10amp accessory feed fuse

My problem turned out to be just as smithsil. The coolant level sensor.
If this did not do it for you, I would check all of the relays and solenoids that are fed by this acessory feed fuse. Not having the schematics in front of me I remember there was the ABS relay, ABS control module, evaporative canister solenoid, some EGR solenoid. Also tied into the circuit is the IMRC relay and the #4 fuel injector. I did'nt have to test these components this time around since it was the coolant sensor, but was quite amazed at how many components this little fuse was handling.Good luck with your problem.

BD,

Search for the threads under my signature re the DIS module tests. If you cannot find the test references, or have questions, get back to us. rangerj

PS, if the fan comes on when the fuse is replaced you may have a IRCM relay stuck in the contact position, or another component that triggers the fan shorted.
