This car is really pushing it's luck. First I blew my radiator in Seattle on my way to california.
Now my car is still knocking coming from the top right hand side of the front of the engine (where I thought thsat I fixed it by re-tightening the cam chain gear bolts) but it is still knocking from the same area. I looked at it again by taking off the valve covers on the front and having a look. It seems that all os tight over there and nothing out of the ordinary for there.
Here's the details...
I am using Valvoline 5x30 Max Life oil (I will be switching to Castrol 10W30 my next oil change) and one liter of Dura ****. I have a superchip, but it makes the noise all the same with or without it.
Also my CE light came on and I will be pulling the codes tomorrow. It came on for about 5 minutes and then went off and haven't seen it since.
Any ideas? I will be checking the Spark plug gaps tomorrow and I have just changed the plug wires and the plugs themselves have only about 5K on them (new when I put the 3.2L in about 2 months ago) I am using 94 octane gas.
If the Sparkplug is incorrectly gapped, would it cause my endine to knock like that? What if there is carbon buildup on it? It sounds like knocking from the top of a piston.
