Ok guys, this is a strange one:

Recently my key pad stopped working: no button response, no lighting up when I press the keys. Wont lock doors or unlock...so it seems it is just broken (was new from the dealer like a year ago as I had a sticky button, but has been fine for the whole time). So I was going to just have the pad changed when I had the chance as the car is under a warranty, but I hate them touching my lady if I can help it. (they know so little)

Besides...there is more:

>>>>>>Here is the interesting part: for some reason the automatic shut off of the interior lights seems to be engaging after the car sits. I know the feature of the car is to automatically shut down lights if I leave the inside light on, but I am not leaving anything on. I cant think of anything out of the ordinary as I leave my vehicle. Everything else is working fine (powerlocks, keyless remote and factory alarm), interior fuses appear in order. This never happened before the keypad stopped working.

What am I missing?

Well here is something new that I never heard of. :D One thing that you can do is .... If you bought your car at a Ford Dealerhip, You can take it to a more respected Dealership in your area. All Ford warranties are valid in all Dealerships.

As for the keypad not working ...... You could try to check the connections inside the door (if any  ). We all know that Ford connections break under stress. wink

I always thought the auto light feature Works Upon entering and exting the car. If you leave your interior lights on, they stay on (?????). Does yours shut off ??

All SHO's (at least 94 and 95's) have a very cool feature in that if you inadvertently leave the lights on (inside or outside the car), the system will power down after 45 minutes to save your battery. So, lets say my kid leaves the glove box open and the light is on, 45 minutes later, all juice is cut to keep me from being stranded the next morning with a dead battery.

Alternatively, when you approach the car and want to see where to put your key, you simply pull the door handle, and the interior lights turn on and the keyhole lights up. Well, that is unless you left something on previously and the car powered down.

My system is in powerdown mode everytime, so there must be a drain occuring someplace, I just can't imagine where.

I think I had the same problem after I ran the car thru a car wash. I ended up sitting outside in 20 degree weather with my wife's hairdryer and it final quit turning the lites on. I think the switch got wet. Ever since then it has been fine.
I would venture to guess one of the buttons is staying engaged.
