I have a 95 SHO and the keyless entry doesn't work with the car's code. I changed the keypad with one from a 94 car that worked. I plugged it in and doesn't work. The car used to have a security system and remote start which was removed from the car and all the wiring was returned back to original as I had referenced it to my 94. Is there anything that I am missing? If anyone has an idea or perhaps run into this before let me know.

there are a couple of possible failure modes:

1. one of the keys on the touchpad could be bad. if that key was not used in the code on the other car, you would not know it. the easiest way I test for this is to (at night) touch one key - the interior light should come on. after the interior light times out and goes off, touch the next key. repeat this for all 5 keys to verify that they all work.

2. the keyless computer could be bad. you can replace that - it is a black box about 3-4" cube on the back side of the rear seat back, on the driver's side. note that when you change that keyless computer you get the code that goes with the 'new' computer.

3. or possibly the keyless computer has already been changed, so the code is different from what is on the car. there is a sticker on the keyless computer that tells you the code for that box.

Turns out that one of the key button didn't work with the computer's code. Just have to switch out the computer and that should do the trick.

Thanks for the help, ruby!

There is a thread on this forum that shows how to add a "new" code. The old code still exists in the memory, but this second code (that uses the buttons that still work) is active as well. Both codes will work to unlock the doors.

unfortunately, you must enter the factory code first to program a new code, so if he cannot enter the factory code to unlock the doors, he won't be able to enter it to program a new code either...

I changed the computer. The old computer I had plugged in never locked the doors when shifted into drive or unlock when in park. Now that I changed to the other computer, the doors lock when I put into drive, but will not unlock when switching into park. Could I possibly have two bad computers? Is it common for them to go bad?

1. the doors never unlock when you shift into park, that is a GM thing.

2. the auto lock feature can be turned on or off, but it is on by default. that means that is was turned off in the old box, but you have not turned it off on the new box.

Weird...wonder why Ford never did that. I guess they want you to stay in your SHO. Do you know how to turn the feature off on the new box?

the front doors will open from the inside even with the doors locked. iirc, you must unlock the doors before the rear doors will open from the inside.

autolocking is toggled on/off like this: (only for vehicles with automatic transmissions)
1. enter the permanent 5 digit code
2. within 5 seconds of doing step 1, press and hold the 7/8 switch
3. within 5 seconds of holding the 7/8 switch, press and release the 3/4 switch
4. within 5 seconds of doing step 3, release the 7/8 switch.

the doors autolock after the transmission selector has passed through the "reverse" position.

Ok. So I have a door issue too then. The passenger door unlocks when locked, but the driver door takes about 4 pumps until it opens. I recently changed the inner door handle on the driver door since the spring was broken inside of it. Something else inside the door must be worn out too.

Thanks for the code!
