Yea i ment the plug that plugs into coil because its weird how car idles rough but when i drive its fine and floors it then sometimes its in full miss mode then the cel light goes out and drives fine for awhile. Just been getting worse the more i use it. Gotta be something electrical i think. If its a valvetrain or bad cylinder or piston ring it would be full miss all day. Not run good sometimes.

It misses at an idle only or more? That makes me think it valve train related. Matches what I have seen with the 4 bangers. You wont see it on a compresaion or leak down test. You may see it monitoring a vacuum gauge.

Valve trainspeed and cylinder pressures seem to affect sticking valves more. It is kinda weird that it happens at higher RPM.

It's not common for a wire to go bad without another associated dtc, but is still a posible cause.

Before you bring it in, try something to clean the back of the intake valves. Make sure the car is good n hot if you can do so safely.

I ran a few cans of crc turbo cleaner through it. And a can of seafoam and it still looks bad. But then again it could of cleaned it alot also because i didnt know what it looked like till now. Ill try some more seafoam i guess. Im up for any type of fix that dosnt involve a dealer. They will open the hood and see a cold air intake and complain. Then say my catless downpipes cause the rear o2 to make cylinder 2 miss fire haha

Till its fixed im going to drive my good car that a couple if handtools can fix every issue and it has a good ecm called the what computer. Only wire connected to this motor is earth and coolant temp sensor. My 76 caddy with a built 507ci . Headers. Highrise intake. Time fer her winter tuneup since i gotta use it now. Shes my backup. Only car i got that if it starts, will always run 20181110 205114 20181110 205105

No go with the new injector? Ugh! Def likely it has been leaking if it looks cleaner than the others. Pushed out pins on the VCT solenoid connector have been an issue on a few SHOs, so it might be something as simple as that. Or perhaps the PCM coil driver for cylinder 2 is fried. Have not heard of that at all on the SHO but is/was common in other models such as the Ford Edge/Taurus/Fusion of 2007/8 vintage. TSB 13-4-17. Different codes tho.

Im still gunna try stuff on the sho before taking it to the dealer. Where is vct soleniod located on back half? Valve cover front of engine i assume? Can i pull it out and clean it? Ill try that first before i clean the intake valves more. Its like a rpm based miss, its weird. Idle its rough. Then hold it at 2k rpm or so for a minute and light goes out and drive fine till i gotta slow up so maybe it is the valve timing werid adjuster thing. I never had any issues with pushrods. They just push man haha

The cam smacks a rod that smacks a rocker that smacks a valve open. Makes sense to me

But i dont know how a vct will just throw 1 cylinder misfire code but then again half the places i look says 302 is cylinder 2 misfire and other places say 302 means 2 or more cylinder misfires. Ill keep trying. Best way to learn a new engine platform. Anything to save me a possible 1000$+ ford bill

Well maybe the weakest component is reacting to the vct solenoid problem. VCT solenoids are on the valve covers on the pass side of the engine. Not sure if you can replace w/o removing the valve cover.

Ill look at the plug first. I see its bolted in under the valve cover. I did remember seeing the plug all twisted up pluged in. Might be like that from factory. I dont know. Im home and pulling the car into my garage now. Why everything gotta break when its cold out!?!?!?

I goop gooped the wire for the vvt and i noticed the 3bar map sensor and the map sensor up front have the same numbers and the front one looks newer. Maybe i put them in the wrong places when i had them out. I swapped them and im reflashing 93 3bar tune now to see if it make a difference

You guys might be on to something though. It clacks like valve chatter. And it aint that nickles in a can fuel pump like i thought. The front of the motor sounds fine but the back clacks like its way to advanced. Maybe the camshaft controller is gunked up. I usually go 10k miles or more on oilchanges just because i didnt have the time all summer. I put 40k on the car since march. Ill look that vvt solenoid. Sorry im posting alot im just trying to keep in touch on here so maybe oneday it can be a good troubleshoot thread

Winter is hardest on man AND machine. Law of nature :) It could also be the cam position sensor, so I would pull them and give 'em a good cleaning if you are suspecting any sort of timing issue, though why misfire only on 1 cylinder, IDK. Always clean both MAPs and the IAT2 sensor when vague-ish problems arrive.

10K miles or more on oil changes! Ugh. Unless you are freakishly maintaining your SHO, that is really a no-no. That will **** the timing system quickly.

Yea i aint gettin it tonite. I cant even get the valve cover off. I guess the bolts dont come out and stay in it but it has to be real stuck somewhere. I cracked the sides loose but i cant really get anything into the rear to crack it loose

The stud bolts are supposed to loosen not be removed anyway. Then you lift the valve cover off of them.

I ordered a new vvt solenoid on rockauto. Should have it tomorrow or so. Ill look at old one once i get it out to see how it looks. Yea back of the engine is clacking alot at idle like the timing is off. But just on the back half. If i go floor it, itll run fine. Lets hope this makes a difference
