I can't seem to pass this emission testing in Illinois but the car seems to be running fine. What are some of the things that keep the car from passing the emission tests.

pull the spout connector, your car will run like crap (to you) but pass emissions with flying colors.

You have to give us the information as to WHAT failed.

Indicate the parameter, passing threshold, and the actual reading obtained....we aren't psychic.

Add a 1/2 gallon of Acetone and a 1/2 gallon of Ethanol to a 1/2 tank of gas.

Ill post the actual numbers tomorrow

I thought that when you start a thread and someone replies that you would get an email or something to let you know. With that being said I didn't know anyone replied and I almost forgot about the post. I'll reply tomorrow. with the actual readings.

What is the spout connector? where is it located. But here in Illinois when they test your car they put the wheels on the turning wheels and run the car up to 60 mph and if it's running that bad as you say then it might fail on that part of the test alone.

As long as the vehicle can be driven, it will be tested. I just failed emissions too. Hooray! I am wondering too where the spout connector is.

The spout connector is the two wire blank connector hanging off the EEC data test port wire loom.

The SPOUT connector looks similar to this:

Timing1

The lighter gray part is the "jumper" that gets pulled.

That option is available, but has to be turned on. It is off by default.

Go to the User CP, Edit Options, then the Notification feature.

Pulling the SPOUT plug won't make the engine "run like crap", but it will take the performance edge off the SHO engine. It will still run fine (provided there are no other faults), probably on par with a SLO.
