Following the instructions as per v8sho.com I installed the K&N 0940. I would actually recommend that you try the conical on the V8 SHO it definatly breathes better and it much much louder when the secondaries kick in. I'm going to do some custom heat shielding later but for the winter use this is fine. I belive the SHO shop intake is a little overpriced so I'm going to make my own. Anyone else on here running the 0940 setup?

Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic Oil
Cool Blue headlights (much brighter than stock and look much better)
OBD-II diagnostic Module (this thing is schweet)
Installing ride control switch soon
Upcoming Mods:
-Borla Exhaust (working with a local muffler shop on this)
-Paint brake capilers (or polish them)
-Colgan Bra
-SHO lettering on the doors
-Upgrade intake system
-and probally a few more as I think of them.

That was my first mod. For 45 bucks vs 200 for the ss you can't beat it. I also need to make a heat shield but just never planned out what to use to make it yet.

If I come up with a good design I'll let you know. Right now I'm thinking heatshield on the engine side and around the thing and plexiglass on the top, just a beginning idea

I just did mine too, LOVE that intake roar now.

I was thinking about heat shielding, since I live down south, I'll need it sooner than you I gather, Also, I started off with the air box and Porterized Intake, so now I just have that big tube running right up to that filter and out into the fenderwell, I'm wondering if I should fashion some sort of tube out towards the front of the car for more cool air.

I am have been running the cone for the last year. It was my first mod. It is a great sound. I also did the porterized this summer and actually just put the pannel filter in 2 days ago. I don't like it as much as the cone. I know some people have extended the cone into the fender is that what you are refering to lol? Which do you prefer? I plan on trying to extend the cone into the fender wall area once I find the proper sized tube. If you guys design a heat shield, let me know.

No... I have heard alot about that being done, but I was thinking of just extending the tube a bit rather than have it end just outside the engine compartment.

I think the conical K&N sounds awesome....I haven't heard anyone's stuffed behind any heatshielding or in a custom "air box." I wonder if it would have the same sound...oh well I'll have to see.

You're all very welcome for the inginuity I put behind making that mod and posting it on v8sho.com

FWIW, I made a custom heat shield out of aluminum flashing that worked pretty well. I even lined the top edge with some of that circular foam insulation. Just use some cardboard as a template so you can modify and trim it the way you want. Then transfer the cardboard to the metal flashing and cut it out with scissors. (flashing cuts fairly easy.) Dress the top with some of that foam inusllation and install. I fastened mine to the strut tower one one side and tucked it between the CCRM and the battery on the other.

I eventually had to get rid of the thing to make room for the Zex nitrous module which had to be mounted on the strut tower. Fair trade off I suppose
