First off, please don't tell me change the bearings. The previous owner had it done and the drove the car home and parked it. It's been parked for about 10 months now until yesterday. The problem is this, blinking oil light at idle when warm. What should I be looking for? Should I go ahead and get a heavier oil? Temps around hear are steady at 95-98 during the day. What other things could it be if its not the oil being too thin? Any help will be apreciated. Again, thanks.

Which oil light is blinking? You should really get a oil pressure gauge and see what you have for readings. Without that you really don't know what your oil pressure is.

Were the bearings changed by the previous owner for a similar condition? Ditto with the last post.

Are you talking about a dash mounted gauge, or is there something quicker that you can just plug in somewhere in the engine bay while the car is idling?

To get a dash mounted gauge, do you use the existing pressure sender, or do you need to mount another sensor somewhere?

I wouldn't tell anyone to change the bearings due to an oil pressure light as the first step to take.

The first thing to do, as mentioned in a couple of the other replies, is to check the oil pressure.

You'll need to get a mechanical (not electric) gauge with a 1/4 NPT fitting, remove the stock oil pressure sender on the rear (technically right side) of the motor on the drivers side, screw in the fitting from the mech. gauge, and start the motor to monitor the idle oil pressure. It will first start high when cold, as much as 50 or 60 PSI, then should settle lower (around 12-15 PSI) once the car has warmed up. If the gauge shows lower than 12 PSI at hot idle, then you have an oil pressure problem. If the pressure is OK, then you probably just have a bad oil pressure sender. As an additional test, hot you should see 40-50 PSI at 3000 RPM.

Let us know what you find for oil pressure! :thumb:

It's the oil presuure sensor that was blinking. The previous owner had the bearings changed aprox 500 miles before I purchased it. After work yesterday, I decided to run a can of oil cleaner in the crank, then flushed it and put fresh 10W30 and filter. No more problems with the oil pressure light blinking. I even took it down the road and pushed it just a bit to see if it would blink again when I parked it and it did not. So I guess it was too thin of oil and the car has been sitting for 8 months. In any case, I am going to put a guage on it just to make sure. Thanks for all your help. :D

I have a feeling that the "oil cleaner" is just going to be a temporary fix and you're going to have more problems down the road.
