That thing is huuuuge. But it pulled pretty hard considering it's size (and 4 passengers).

My pleasure ;)

Overall, I wasn't that impressed. The interior was very nice, but not a lot of foot room in the drivers seat (the accelerator is right next to the center console). We comfortably sat 3 average guys in the back though. The ability to change the ambient lighting was pretty cool too. But everything the reviews have said were spot on (big, heavy, bad handling and brakes).

Like I said, the motor pulled hard and I really hope they drop it in a Fusion. Would love to test drive an EcoBoost Mustang and F150 when they hit the lot.

So how about some details about the test drive. Did you take it down some winding roads or do some panic stops to test the brakes. How about some insight into how you came to this conclusion.

I didn't actually drive it, just went for a short ride for a few miles, nothing major. Floored it twice and you can faintly hear the turbos. Smooth ride overall but he didn't "get into" any turns or do any major braking with 5 guys in the car. He said he really took it through a tight turn earlier and it handled like a brick, even with the AWD. I'll be meeting up with the guy again Saturday, we'll see how that goes.

... And did this SHO have a track pack or anything of that sort?

Hmmm.....not sure about the track pack. I'll ask him on Saturday. He did say it was fully loaded at like 42k or something.

Im sure the eclispe GSX was underrated. Give the SHO a chance. Im sure mechanics like myself and others will do some amazing things to this car. Twin turbos will be insane once modded. Cant wait til the aftermarket gets ahold of these cars. Go new SHOs

Comparing the new SHO engine to the 4G63 is a pretty bold move.

Not necessarily comparing. Im just saying that I think once people get ahold of the new SHO and start doing things to it, it will become a whole new monster altogether. Driving a car straight from the factory is one thing but it may really drop some jaws with some mods.

In the interest of preserving the thread topic (and not starting a shit storm), I only have to say I disagree.

what i understood from this post was that speedie was trying to say at the time people gave the eclipse gsx received underrated reviews but later on proved to be wrong...

I agree with the sho getting a chance...I'm pretty sure it will never be like the 1989 SHO but i still would give it a chance.!

I am amazed at your comment that the handling and brakes are bad, when you haven't even driven the car? I have and the h andling is superb, yes, the car is over 4000 pounds and won't ever drive on a race track or tight road like a lotus, but it isn't competing with a lotus or Porsche 911!

The brakes need something IF (repeat IF) you plan on doing a lot of track days, and long sessions. But for even very aggressive highway driving they are just fine. OVerall handling is very very good. I think most reviews agree with this. A few reviews that are not IMO being objective or fair to what category the vehicle is in, talk about handling, but basically the car drives MUCH smaller and lighter than it has a right to. This means the Ford people did a great job on the suspension and drivetrain.

And I have driven the car for about 100 miles.

I agree Don. Its pretty unfair to judge this vehicle so harshly. I personally think there are a lot of tests that are shooting out some rather bunk numbers. We'll see what happens when more real people get their hands on it. So far, I like what motor trend had to say though!

I just received three magazines out of my million magazines a month i get:nut:, and looks like the SHO has front page on two of them, but has write ups in all three mags. Wonder why they all use the red SHOs for testing? On the inside they show the Gen 1,2 and the new one side by side and the new SHO in the middle is a giant amongst them. Nonetheless, it was a great photo shot.

Alright, I guess I had no room to comment about the braking and handling. The guy who gave me a ride test drives and reviews cars for a living, so he knows what he's talking about. I was moretheless taking his word for it and I respect his opinion.
