Howdy all. Brand new to the site, but have been lurking for a few days; ever since I bought my SHO last week.
I live in Dewey, AZ, but work in Phoenix.
I needed a cheap and comfortable car to commute in, and I looked at a bunch of older crown vics and then found my SHO. It has 111k miles, and is a Midwest car, so the paint and interior are nice, but there is just a bit of rust on the frame, but nothing on the exterior.
It needed sub-frame bushings, rear struts, and the AC was not working. Asking price was $2600, and I got it for $1700.
It has a bunch of rattles, the HVAC buttons are broke, and it idles rough, but it really is a fun car to drive.
I bought new KYB GR2 struts, new rear stabalizer bar end-links, and changed fluids.
But, I still haven't decided what to do about the sub-frame bushings.
My local Ford dealer has no clue what part number to order for the stock replacements, so I have no idea how to compare the cost of the stock units versus aluminum ($110).
Anybody know how much the stock rubber bushings cost? How about installed? I work at a Nissan dealership, so my shop rate is $65 an hr.
