First off i am posting this in the local section because some of the questions are for people in this area

1. where is a good place for a tranny rebuild in the area of southeast wisconsin? i know bizzy does them, but i really dont know about shipping it out and having to wait for it before i can go any farther...

2. Wherever i take it for the rebuild, can they weld the diff pins together? from what i understand it has to be TIG welded... do they have to balance it as well?

3. how do i grind the flywheel and where should i take it... if i remeber it has to be blanchard ground or something like that...?

4. what is the best thing to do with subframe bushings, since mine are literally torn in two... i dont really want ALSFB because im not really that hot on the negative effects of them (like oxidation and bent subframes)(please correct me if im wrong or misinformed) so i was thinking GEN III SFB, how do these work, and where do i get them? (autozone? Ford dealer?)

5. My subframe bolts are as useful as the bushings... (except theyre not torn) where do i get these??

6. What is the break in period for a clutch??? ive heard its 500 miles no speeds above 55mph?

thanks in advance and i hope this will help someone other than than me out as well... :thumb:

Well, the flywheel can be ground at any carquest that has a machine shop in the back of the store. The subframe bushings and bolts can be bought'n at www. shonutperformance.com , I would imagine every clutch is going to be different, i know when i put my new clutch in next week, im gonna take it easy on it for 1000 miles atleast, not real sure about the highway speed thing tho...

Help that helped a little bit. I'm from Central wisconsin, so i dont know much about your area! REmember, your not terribly far from Chicago, so im sure there some good opportunities down there too...

Smoking Joes dad is your cheapest option around here to resurface the flywheel. $20 and a quick turn around. Police bushings are stiffer then stock but not solid like the ALSFB.
Doug from Performance Plus might rebuild SHO trannys? Calling him is your best choice.

ive heard about the police SFB... but i dont think theyre avaliable or are becoming less and less... i actually am kind of leaning twards the ALSFB now because of how they dont wear out and because of all the good things ive heard... i dont know... they just seem easier and less of a hassle than trying to dig up some rubber ones that arent as good and will wear out eventually anyway... what do you think??

You can use GenIII REAR subframe bushings at all 4 corners.....Best choice unless you go solid.

Subframe bolts- -n804442-s426 (size m12x1.75)-3.25each.-13.00 all 4
Subframe bushings (Gen III)-(Top)f6dz-5400396-A -13.02 each 26.04 four
(bottom) yf1z-5400155-AA -15.58 each 62.32 four

101.36 total from Ford. I liked them... but ALSFB :hail:

CLutch break in should be 500-1000miles. be easy on it, but let the rpms get up a bit. Shift at 5k a few times... not hard, just a regular shift.

The diff pins can only be welded by using a brace. This just protects the diff pins from coming out of the case. This will not give you a "LSD".

AutoZone carries a remanufactured flywheel for 4x something then a 4x something core charge. Thats what i did. Easier that way. Plus it has a new ring gear allready attached.

so do i go to a dealer for this??

also if i go aluminium is it harder on other components like motor mounts and such or is the only downfall the NVH...

also as far as welding the pins, will a tranny shop know how to do this or will they be against doing it??
