So the oil pick up had some red fibers? Not sure where that came from and a very small piece of saran wrap. Probably from when the block was shipped back from CSS.. Not sure on that one, but anyways I could see the pick up might be partially construed from picking stuff up with that so gave the pick up a big douching. Cleaned with a pick, brake clean and the fibers I couldn't get them all so used a torch and burned them up. Now it's clean clean clean and yes... The pick up was cleaned at the machine shop with the rest of the oil components that weren't replaced so it's very odd to me on the fibers.. Unsolved mystery really...

I am hoping that was the issue.. scared the shit out of me because with the oil I thought it was a giant chunk of metal grits stuck in there. Replaced the o ring. New one fit about the same but the rubber was more supple. Going to probably wait a couple days so my engine builder can come over and we can put a mechanical gauge on it and give the rtv some time to cure.

They were pretty fine fibers. Like akin to hair fuzz. Almost like my pick up wasn't picking up oil but it was picking up a ginger **** or something. That was my first thought too but can't think of a moment where I'd used one. Had to be out of my hands.

Deep breath young Jedi, in the end you're going to win the fight. I've been a Tech essentially my entire life, and strictly new car for the last 34 years. Sometimes when you push yourself shit just happens and I can't tell you the hours of sleep I've lost troubleshooting things in my mind. We are our worst critics. Sometimes we miss stuff, sometimes we're chasing phantom problems, and sometimes shit just happens. You're a **** of a fighter.

I know from your post you're going to tear ***** and elbows into it, but were you able to put an oil gauge on it? If not, did it have any clatter to indicate you were actually loosing pressure?
Fwiw, if you have any doubt, scrap the oil filter and cut it open and inspect the pleats for metal-if nothing else it may give you some peace of mind.

No clatter, but I think between the o ring and the partial clogging of the pick up I think that should be the solution to the issue. Gauge will probably be on sunday and car will be parked otherwise until then. I will be out of town the next couple days. The car definitely had oil pressure as the first start up I did a warm up and oil change and forgot to pre-fill the second filter and it definitely was full when I pulled it this morning to do the pick up. Pan didn't have any significant grit or anything in it that I'd cause a fuss about. That and we had plenty of assembly **** and I squirted a good bit of oil on the top end/chains before sealing her up for installation.
