Man, that sucks. Don't have any initial gut feelings but a few steps I'd do to begin troubleshooting:A low oil pressure light popped up on second start up this morning. Was about to take it around the block, but immediately shut it off and the only two things I can think of are that plug behind the water pump or the oil pressure sensor shit itself. Any ideas? Absolutely ****** right now.
1) Thoroughly check the entire engine to make sure oil isn't where it's not supposed to be, both internal and external (mixed into coolant, or actually leaking out somewhere). Keep an eye on the level to make sure it isn't moving up or down, an indication it might be internally leaking somewhere. Pull plugs and borescope the cylinders to see if anything is in there. Check compression.
2) Thoroughly check the entire wire harness to make sure nothing is pinched or cut on accident during removal/installation.
3) It very well could be the sensor, it's relatively cheap to change out and rule it out compared to actually tearing stuff down again.
4) Try and pull a log to see what the oil pressure is actually reading if you're ok with starting it up again briefly.
These might get you to closer to understanding what's happening...
