Looks like you got this:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Frost-King...-in-Id-x-6-ft-Foam-Pipe-Insulation/1001089478

But you should get this:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Frost-King-1-in-x-6-ft-Rubber-Plumbing-Tubular-Pipe-Insulation/3132417

One is meant to insulate exterior pipes in the winter, but the rubber stuff is for AC and hot water copper pipes. They should be right next to each other in the same isle and both come in 6' sticks. You want the 1" ID stuff, 1/2" wall thickness.
Good man. I will make my way back over there eventually and nab it up

Went and picked up the other type and some star lock washers for the hardware for the exhaust manifolds. Other than that I need to find two not of my injector retainers and pick up turbo exhaust studs and a couple of the coolant pipe o rings next week and everything will be ready to go.

BTW, any particular reason you're switching from studs to bolts? I kind of like studs in certain situations and exhaust manifolds seems like a good place for them. Only reason I say this is, when doing maintenance down the road, those holes can be blind and getting them started by "feel" can be facilitated with a stud. you just hang the gasket onto the studs, then slide the manifold on. No trying to hold everything in place while blindly searching for the hole with a bolt.

Anyway, not knocking it, just curious what the motivation is.

The studs come out like bolts after the nuts seize to them anyways. That's mostly the reason. I think only 3/16 didn't come out with the stud to begin with. I just can't think of a situation where I'll be looking for them to need the studs like you said. In the event that a stud and bolt come out together they are basically dead to me because I don't want to put them back in like that so new hardware to be had anyways. Think these will be a more viable reusable option.

However, keeping studs on the turbos because like you said when you searching it helps

Sounds like good reasoning. Just make sure you put anti-seize on all of it. I know you know this, but I always preach the gospel every chance I get. Ask me how I know, LOL...(but really, please don't ask me...too many bad memories to re-live)

Lol will do.

Boom done up. That stuff is super easy to work with.. decided against the tape as it looked like shit and while I'll deal with stuff looking like shit this was too far for me. Lol

LOL, there's a technique and the secret is this video:

I imagine you tried to just wrap it continuously? I made that mistake and it does look like shit, especially around bends. The secret is cutting it in strips. Tedious, but worth it...

I saw that video and it all came to together for me...

No, I didn't want to use it because it's a small layer of insulation plus the aluminum layer. Didn't want to use the heat reflective tape like you did. I cut sections and laid it over but the aluminum layer gets crinkled basically just from unrolling it so looked like ass

Nice touch! Are you keeping the pipes burnt copper? I like that
I think I am going to end up keeping the copper look, just not quite sure completely. I had plans for some sick wheel colors, but I think I am going to steer away from that as of late. Always evolving I guess lol.

Maybe I need to copper it up lol gotta be careful painting a block because can make finding oil leaks a pain, but I guess the copper wouldn't be too bad. Good idea. I might do that
Powder coat is such a better option in these instances, IMHO. Will last way longer and not look like crap after awhile. You can get some really good color-matched powder coat. Maybe an option if you're going for some color.

So... I did this exact thing on the first section of the first pipe then gave up and just wrapped that shit up however I could lol. It still sits fairly flat and looks nice, but I didn't want to spend hours on wrapping all the sections of pipe, I plan to eventually sleeve everything or make my own CF intake pipes. CF seems to reject heat really well from what I've read, so that is really the next (only) step for me!

Picked up a plug for that hole below where the water pump goes. I'll post a part number for everybody who's doing their own thing tomorrow when I know for sure if it fits or not.

Had to make a trip to the parts store for turbo to downpipe studs for the new turbos and the coolant pipe o rings so I can get the heads slapped on tomorrow after the new ring set gets delivered. Then realized I didn't have coolant gaskets for the turbos either so grabbed those as well. Suckers were like $4 for 1. Yikes. Tomorrow should be game time!
