I'm not positive but I think I read somewhere that the main amp is 20 x 4 and the sub amp is 70 max. I know that they do not have very much clean power though.

I've noticed that the JBL sub in my car is quite noticeable when you're in the back seat, but if you're in the front, honestly, you can barely hear it. I've got sound just as good with similar bass response (or better) in my '03 Explorer with no subwoofer but with the bass all the way up on the head unit.

Do these things get weaker with age, or is that all it's got? It is thumping when your ear is over the sub, but from the front? Naaahhh...

???

Thanx!

My bass sounds great in the front- as long as I recline the seat all the way....

Since I'm not a rich boy, necessary maintenance takes priority over the sound system.

But I dream of one day putting nice speakers all around, new amps, moving the EATC to where the cupholder is, exchanging my aftermarket cd player for a cd/DVD player, putting the hideaway screen up where the EATC is.

Someday......

The factory sub sounds like crap on the rear deck. Just messing around the other day, I put the sub on the trunk floor firing backwards. The deep bass response that was never heard before suddenly came to life. If this were a ported enclosure, it would sound fine in the trunk, firing backwards, and mounted close to the rear seat back. In my past experience, I've found that sealed enclosures with rear firing subs, sound better closer to the back of the car. Vise versa with a ported enclosure. I say this becasue with the sealed factory sub sitting closest to the rear seat on the floor, sounded great when I popped the trunk open a crack.

BTW, anyone have an extra sub amp they'd like to get rid of, along with another factory sub box? I've got wheels turning in my head for some modifications, but still intend using the factory stuff. Just for a little fun project.
